Birthday Chit Chat: Things I Have Learned in 25 Years

Friday, 21 July 2017
A quarter century! Growing up is crazy because you acquire all this wisdom and you really can trace how you evolve and grow as a person. At the same time, even though I am know what I am doing more than I have have, I am acutely aware that I truly have no idea most of the time! Does that even make sense? It's like the more you grow up, the more you realise how much you have to learn going forward. All this notwithstanding, I thought it would be fun to share my ramblings and the little things I think I have learned over the years.

Designer Dupes: Monica Vinader, Chanel, Balmain, Stuart Weitzman, Furla and Chloé

Designer Dupes Monica Vinader Chanel Balmain Stuart Weitzman Furla Chloe look for less budget fashion high end high street
As someone who watches a lot of fashion bloggers and falls in love with designer items I can't afford, I am always on the lookout for affordable fashion that embodies a lot of the same design elements. Quite regularly I come across things that are so close to the high end items they are clearly inspired by that they could definitely be classified as dupes and satisfy my lusting for pretty things without breaking the bank. It is important to note that I'm not talking about counterfeit designer goods that have all the branding, but rather pieces that are clearly inspired by designer items. I think of it as a distinction between dupe and fake, but I will admit that I own some fakes too that I love.

Inner Corner Highlight: Splurge or Save?

NYX Prisimatic Girl Talk Stila Kitten L'Oreal Infallible La Couleur Ultra Concentrated Colour Eyeshadow in 002 Hourglass Beige review swatch inner corner highlight comparison
I recently realised just how many super pigmented, metallic inner corner highlight shades I have and thought now would be the perfect time to compare them and see which one comes out on top. They range in price from $7.95 to $26 so the whole point is to see whether you should splurge or save.

The 5 Polish Capsule Wardrobe

Nail Polish Capsule Wardrobe OPI L'Oreal Smith and Cult Sally Hansen review swatches swatch
We have all heard of capsule wardrobes so I though it would be fun to create one for your nails! Of course, I have a metric ton of polishes (far more than I can ever use up if I am honest) but I am beginning to see the waste there, especially since I use the same gorgeous staple polishes over and over again. As attractive as a big polish collection is, you really don't need it. You can have beautiful, polished nails with these 5 gorgeous shades.

Declutter Series: Customisable Eyeshadow Palettes

Friday, 7 July 2017
I have a few custom eyeshadow pans that I was able to pick myself but weirdly I really don't use them much. I often just reached for my tried and true palettes first or, when I do reach for my 15 shade MAC palette, I use the same handful of shades and don't touch the rest. For this reason, it seemed logical to let some of them go.

Declutter Series: Drugstore Eyeshadow Palettes

Wednesday, 5 July 2017
I try not to be a makeup snob and represent a good mix of drugstore and high end makeup on my blog but I truly have never been wowed by a drugstore eyeshadow palette. I have found a few that are decent for the money, but they never stack up against my high end favourites so I never reach for them. Since there are so many I don't reach for, it was well past time to declutter my drugstore eyeshadow palettes.

Declutter Series: High End Eyeshadow Palettes

Monday, 3 July 2017
Here is one I have actually been looking forward to decluttering. I have been wearing less and less eyeshadow lately which means a lot of these beautiful palettes are going to waste so I want to move some of them along. Not to mention the fact that high end palettes hold a bit of their value so if you have some laying around that you don't use, it makes sense to sell them!
