October Favourites

Monday, 6 November 2017
Another month! Seriously, I know we all say it all the time but this month has flown by. Who else is excited it's almost Christmas? Anyway, here are the beauty products I loved and used a ton over the month of October, as well as a few non-beauty favourites.

Tarte Tartlette In Bloom Palette $69

This is one I have had for quite a while but I recently started reaching for it a lot more and I don't know why I ever let it drift to the back of my collection. I used to have the original Tarte palette and sold it when I bought the In Bloom because it is so much nicer. I use Flower Child, Smarty Pants and Activist as my everyday mattes to shape and contour the eye and they blend like a dream! All the shadows are so pigmented, they always look amazing and last really well all day.

Left to right: Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, Smokeshow, Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Activist, Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel and Leader.

Skinstitut Multi-Active Oil $30.15
Skinstitut Multi-Active Oil review
I ran out of this one a while ago and I am kicking myself for waiting so long to reorder it! I am now back to using a full Skinstitut skincare regime after running out of a few products and trying to use up other things I had laying around. Skinsitut as range always makes my skin feel absolutely amazing and I have vowed to replace things and really stick with the brand. The Multi-Active Oil in particular is great for my dry skin for restoring moisture. I use it every night and sparingly most mornings and I never feel greasy or oily. It really is amazing and actually makes my more tricky matte foundations apply nicer on top.

Oil Garden Aromatherapy Jojoba Oil $23.99
Oil Garden Aromatherapy Jojoba Oil review
Jojoba oil is such a great moisturising oil for all over but I have actually been using it for my nails and cuticles. After watching Simplynailogical's video, I ordered some empty brush pens and loaded them up with oil. I have been trying to apply the nail to my nails and cuticles as often as I remember and it is a lot easier with it pre-loaded in a brush pen. It still can be a bit messy and leaves my hands a bit oily, but it definitely helps my nails. They look way better and I have even seen less peeling, which is definitely my biggest nail problem.

Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick $49

I picked this up at the recent Sephora 20% off sale and I have not been disappointed. I have actually been reaching for cream products over powder products lately. I find they help me to look good but not overdone, especially as the weather is heating up. This contour stick is the perfect shade, super creamy and easily blendable. I couldn't really ask for any more. I have been using it pretty much every day since I bought it and would wholeheartedly recommend picking it up if you are on the look out for a good cream contour product. It is also a pretty decent size at 8.5g ($5.76/gram) compared to the Smashbox Contour Sticks ($9.71/gram), Clinque Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour ($7.00/gram). It is only pipped for value by the Fenty Beauty Match Stix ($5.21/gram) but when I swatched them both to decide, I preferred the creamier Benefit formula.

Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in 150 Eat Cake $43
I only picked up two things at the Sephora sale and they were both amazing! I usually prefer a sheerer lipstick for everyday because fully opaque ones can look a little overdone. This one is right up my alley because it doesn't totally cover the lips but has a smooth, even pigment. It feels really nice on the lips and is even a bit moisturising so it's pretty safe to say I want more shades. Eat Cake is a beautiful warm peachy pink that I can see myself getting a lot of use out of over this summer. Also, a special mention to the beautiful magnetic snap closure that makes this lippie feel even more high end than my Chanel and Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks.

Some non-beauty favourites...
The absolutely beautiful The Daily Edited Double Card Holder ($59.95) with rose gold monogramming. I have been using it non-stop with all my mini bags since I purchased it and I'm still totally in love. It just looks so luxe and high end. You can read my full review here.
Lucifer! The third season started at the beginning of October and I have been holding out every week for the new episode. Season 1 & 2 are on Netflix Australia if you haven't seen it. Just watch the pilot and I promise you will be hooked like I am.
Castañer Carina Espradrilles summer shoes ivory
My Castañer Carina Espradrilles! I have been wearing these non-stop with skirts, jeans, dresses, you name it! They are the perfect summer shoe and are surprisingly comfortable. The black ones are still available on Net-A-Porter for $122.67. Unfortunately the ivory ones are sold out for now but hopefully they will come back. For reference, they seem very true to size - I am an Australian size 7 and size 38 is just right, if not bordering on a little bit too big. Definitely don't size up with these ones.

There you have my October favourites! I hope you had a great month and I would love to know what you were loving last month too so please let me know in the comments below.

Disclaimer: I paid with all the products featured in this post myself. As always, my opinions are my own.

  5. The Tarte In Bloom palette is so lovely - I can definitely see it being the perfect everyday palette! I have one of the Marc Jacobs nude lipsticks in Understudy and I looove it. It's probably one of my favourite lipstick formulas!

    1. I have two different Marc Jacobs lipstick formulas and they are both amazing!

  6. Tarte palette is so gorgeous :)

  7. Great picks for favorites. I love Marc Jacobs lipsticks, their formula is so good, never dries out my lips. I need to check this shade Eat Cake.

  8. That tarte palette looks stunning and to be honest these products would easily make into my favourites too.

  9. I feel like I always come up with excuses to not purchase the tarte palette, but maybe I need to swatch it for myself and see if I can cave into my excuses :P

  10. I love my in bloom palette and it’s my favourite travel palette because I can make so many shade combinations with it!

I have the quickie contour stick and love it as well! I will probably switch to Fenty’s when I run out as it’s cruelty free. Benefit’s blends really well though! I prefer it to regular Hoola!
