november beauty favourites monthly favourites
It's almost Christmas! Usually I complain about how fast the month has gone but this month I'm not even mad! I have finished up my main work for the year (I tutor school kids so no work during school holidays) and am looking forward to some time off. There were plenty of beauty things I was loving this month so without further ado...

Hourglass Mecca 20 Ambient Lighting Palette $90

I reviewed this one earlier in the month (read here) and suffice to say... I love it! The bronzer is the standout of this palette and basically the reason I purchased it. I had already tried the Hourglass Ambinent Lighting blushes and powders and I was delighted to find out that their bronzer formula is just as excellent. I also like that I can travel with this and have an all over luminous powder, blush and bronzer all in one compact palette. You truly can't go wrong with Houglass and this palette is no exception.

Designer Brands Luminous Hydrating Foundation $19.99
I was sent this as part of the BeautyCrew review team (nothing to do with me being a blogger) and I am so glad because I don't know if I ever would have tried it, which would have been the biggest shame! I have to admit I wasn't really intrigued by Designer Brands and wrote it off as a cheaper brand but I certainly am now because this foundation is exceptional! As someone with chronically dry skin, it answers all my prayers - it has great medium coverage, a very luminous and dewy finish, applies so smoothly, and even wears well throughout the day. I use a lot more expensive foundations and this is just as good and I've been reaching for it over the others so much this month. I also reviewed it as part of my 5 Days of Foundation last week so if you would like to read my full review with wear photos, head here.

MAC SnowBall Collection Lipstick in Rouge en Snow $36 (Sold Out)

Did anyone else get totally sucked in by the beautiful MAC Snowball packaging? The packs didn't really attract me but the individual lipsticks and highlighters were beautiful! Rouge en Snow is described as a candy apple and that is pretty perfect. Its a bright red with a blue undertone, which I always like because it complements my pale skin and makes my teeth look whiter, which is always a plus. If you are looking for a dupe, it shouldn't be too hard. Just look for a nice bright red with a blue undertone. I swatched it against some of my favourite red lipsticks that I had with me (I'm not at home so I don't have my full collection) and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl was the closest undertone match even though it is a little lighter - Ruby Woo is close too but it is a bit warmer and the formula is a lot drier and more matte. I think the L'Oreal Matte Addiction Lipstick in Haute Rouge would be very similar too, and the formula would give you a very similar semi-matte finish.

Rae Morris #7 Deluxe Point Shader Brush $80
Rae Morris #7 Deluxe Point Shader Brush review
Now I don't have many truly high end fancy brushes because they are a bit rich for my blood. Most of mine are around the Zoeva or Sigma price point or cheaper, which is totally fine and you can get some really great affordable brushes. That said, I treated myself to a couple more Rae Morris brushes when I went to the Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo because she was clearing out her old line and this is now my favourite brush of my entire collection. The natural bristles are just so exceptionally soft and the whole brush screams quality. The handle is also high quality grained wood with a magnet on the bottom for easy drying upside down. I definitely won't ever be able to afford to have a whole set of Rae Morris brushes, as much as I might want to, but I have 5 now and they really make me happy to use. I have linked her updated Deluxe Point Shader Brush because, as I said, I got mine on clearance of her old range, but it should be very similar. I think, if you are going to invest in one really high quality brush, it should be a truly amazing eye blending brush.

Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate $87
Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate review
I was lucky enough to receive this serum at the last Brisbane Blogger's United Event in August and I have been using it everyday since. It has really helped with the hydration levels of my skin, as well as improving the texture. The formula is a really lightweight, clear gel that really packs in hydration thanks to the hyaluronic acid. It claims to smooth skin texture and help with reduce the look of dull, tired and dehydrated skin, which are my main skin concerns and I would definitely say it has helped. I am truly so happy with where my skin is at right now! I remain quite devoted to Skinstitut but I found that this one works really nicely after my hydration mist and before my facial oil, so I will definitely consider repurchasing if I have the money. It's pricey but not exceptionally so, and I really think it is worth it! It is also worth noting that I have been using this one for almost 6 months now so it lasts ages.

Covergirl Melting Pout Gel Liquid Lipstick in 105 Gel-ful $14.95

As I said in my full review earlier this month (read here), this is more of a slightly more opaque lipgloss than a liquid lipstick. That is actually fine by me because I find a lot of liquid lipsticks incredibly drying. I have really been loving this nude Gel-ful shade for everyday because it gives me a nice and easy wash of glossy colour. Of course, being a gloss it isn't going to last long but it is very easy to reapply and is a particularly comfortable formula so I don't mind at all!
