Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo Haul Vlog OPI Rae Morris Designer Makeup Tools Model Rock Lashes
I attended the Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo this weekend to check out all of the great pro stalls. It isn't really like IMATs or big expos like that, but instead is a really industry focused event for hairdressers, nail technicians, beauticians and makeup artists. Despite being none of those things, I had a great time looking around and checking out things I'd never really seen before and getting great deals on some brands I love.

I was lucky enough to win tickets in a flash Instagram giveaway and I went with my friend, Kelsey, who is a pro makeup artist and fellow blogger. We made a beeline straight for Crown Brushes, Inglot and Designer Makeup Tools to check out the more makeup geared stalls. That said though, it was super cool to check out some other stalls. There were some pretty cool nail polish suppliers, hair product stalls and our personal favourite was the super cool O2 Nail Printer which prints any nail art design from your iPhone straight on to your nails. If only I had a spare grand! I think I would give a less vital organ to have one of my own!
Even though I couldn't afford the crazy awesome nail art printer, I still picked up some great items for a pretty respectable haul with some great savings.

  • OPI Infinite Shine Gel Lacquer in Samoan Sand, Made You Look and Stick to Your Burgundies as well as the Primer and Gloss Top Coat - $55 (RRP: $114.75)
  • Inglot Lipstick in 264 - $20 (RRP $29)
  • Duo Striplash Adhesive - $6.95 (RRP $7.95)
  • Model Rock Lashes #299 - $3.95 (RRP: $6.25)
  • Model Rock Lashes #318 - $3.95 (RRP: $6.25)
  • Designer Makeup Tools 118W-24 Silky Soft Tapered Blush - $12 (RRP: $21.50)
  • Designer Makeup Tools 160-06 Small Tapered Blender - $5.40 (RRP: $6.85)
  • Rae Morris 7 Deluxe Point Shader Brush (Old Collection) - $27.30 (Sold out)
  • Rae Morris 7.1 Deluxe Point Shader Brush (Old Collection) - $27.30 (One sale on the website too for $27.30)
  • Vegan Vogue Maxi Oval Brush - $5 (RRP: $15)
  • Vegan Vogue Mid-Mini Oval Brush - $5 (RRP: $12)
  • Vegan Vogue Mid Ridge Brush - $5 (RRP: $7)
Expo Price: $176.85 - Normal Price: $281.15

If you would like to follow along at the Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo and my day at the Brisbane art museums, check out my vlog from the day.
As you can see, I made some pretty great savings and even though I went over budget, I couldn't resist the great prices. I made some great savings last year too and if you would like to see what I picked up last year, here is my write up and haul. Basically I had a great time and I can't believe I almost didn't go this year. I will probably continue to pop in every year for a look.

Did any of you go or might you check it out next year if you are based in Brisbane. Let me know in the comments below. I'd also love to know what your favourite pick of my haul.

  1. Those brushes look so fluffy and soft!! I didn't even realise she had her own brushes!

    1. They are all so amazing. It's a bummer they aren't stocked anywhere though because it's a lot to spend on brushes you can't have a play with first.

  4. This sounds like so much fun! I'm also really jealous of your picks, particularly the Rae Morris brushes. I loooove her brushes (she says, only having ever tried and owned one haha)

    1. You really should! I still love the original formula a lot but I would agree that the Infinite Shine ones have a glossier finish. They are also thicker though which I'm not sure I like. OPI is great though :)

  7. This sounds like a fun day out! I'd be so intimidated to go seeing as I am not a professional but it sounds totally fine - maybe I'll look into going next year! :) xx

    1. Don't be intimidated! Also remember that the pros there are so varied, no one at the stalls necessarily assumes you are a pro in the field they supply to anyway.

    1. I'm actually wearing the grey one right now. It is a little thicker formula which I don't love but I can't deny that they do last longer.

    1. You definitely do. I used to love Essie but I've recently made the jump to OPI because I think they are superior quality, at least in a lot of the shades I've tried.

    1. Yeah I was so excited when I won them. The tickets are only usually $15-$20 but it is always better to save some money so you can spend it on makeup, right?

  15. I actually didn't enjoy it as much this year as we did last year! They had less hair tool stalls this year and less deals on what they did have for mum who is a hairdresser. I loved Rae's talk, she's always fantastic. Mum got the Rae Morris eyeliner brush that Rae demonstrated on stage, and another of the hairdryer she bought last year. I actually didn't buy anything and now I wish I had thought to buy some Model Rock lashes because I don't really have any lashes.

I didn't think the presentations were as good this year either. I do kind of wish I had a lipstick made up at the lip lab though!

    1. I totally understand that and you are right, I didn't see as many hair stalls now that you mentioned it. Let me know how your Mum gets on with the Rae Morris eyeliner brush because I was really tempted too!
