Inner Corner Highlight: Splurge or Save?

NYX Prisimatic Girl Talk Stila Kitten L'Oreal Infallible La Couleur Ultra Concentrated Colour Eyeshadow in 002 Hourglass Beige review swatch inner corner highlight comparison
I recently realised just how many super pigmented, metallic inner corner highlight shades I have and thought now would be the perfect time to compare them and see which one comes out on top. They range in price from $7.95 to $26 so the whole point is to see whether you should splurge or save.

I think this one is actually discontinued here in Australia but you can get it at the link from eBay with free shipping. This one looks like it might be a loose pigment from the packaging but, either because of a binding agent or how packed it is, it definitely isn't loose. The packaging is really good and things stay surprisingly neat and tidy. As for the shade, it is the brightest champagne of the bunch and very pigmented. I like the way it applies with minimal fallout as long as you don't overload the brush, but I will say that it is a bit chunkier than the others. It has good longevity, especially if you use a setting spray. The lightness of the shade is actually really good for my pale skin and makes for a really intense highlight.

This on isn't quite as intense on the inner corner as the others but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It still gives a really gorgeous highlight but it is a little more subdued and I feel like I could wear this everyday, even at work. Compared to the L'Oreal one, it actually sits better on the skin and you can't see the individual particles. The shade of this one is actually quite different too, which you will see in the comparison swatches. It has a much pinker hue to it and a tiny bit of iridescence.

Stila Eye Shadow in Kitten $26

Now for the premium one! This is a cult favourite and for very good reason. It has the most beautiful champagne gold shade that is actually quite a bit warmer than the others, but still looks great on my pale skin. The shadow itself is finely milled and doesn't have the chunkiness of the L'Oreal but it is the most intense out of all three. If you have never tried or swatched this one, you need to.

The Verdict: Splurge!
Honestly, all three are really nice and I would happily use any of them but the winner is definitely Stila Kitten! It has the intense pigment, gorgeous shade and longevity you want in an inner corner highlight. If you want something more subdued I'd recommend the NYX but I think the whole point of an inner corner highlight is to have that pah-pow pigment!

Have you tried any of these? Is there an even better inner corner highlight shadow out there that I need to try? Let me know in the comments below.

Disclaimer: I purchased all of these products myself. As always, my opinions are my own.

    1. Haha you and I think alike! I love saving but unfortunately the high end often comes out on top for me. I swear I'm not trying to be a makeup snob :p

    1. Yup I have to agree. I have seen the L'Oreal one touted as a dupe for Stila Kitten so many times but the shades are really quite different. I suppose they give the same overall effect, but I wouldn't say they are dupes.

    1. You should definitely try it out. You can even use your usual cheek highlighter but it won't be as intense as something like Kitten. It really helps open up the eye and make you look more rested than you actually are which is always a plus for me :)

    1. Yeah, I agree. The only one I have found that comes close is Sin in the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette. That is a really nice inner corner highlight! I have even considered buying the full sized eyeshadow just to use as a face highlighter.
