Declutter Series: High End Eyeshadow Palettes

Monday, 3 July 2017
Here is one I have actually been looking forward to decluttering. I have been wearing less and less eyeshadow lately which means a lot of these beautiful palettes are going to waste so I want to move some of them along. Not to mention the fact that high end palettes hold a bit of their value so if you have some laying around that you don't use, it makes sense to sell them!

So when I rounded up my high end palettes I had 13 which is way more than one set of eyeballs could ever need!
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
  • Lorac Pro Palette
  • Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
  • Tarte Tartelette Palette
  • Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette
  • Nars NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette
  • Nars And God Created The Woman Palette
  • Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Palette
  • Lancôme Color Design Artist Palette
  • Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes 5 Color Palette in Rose Ballerine
  • Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 03 Cocoa Mirage
  • Clarins Ombre Minérale 4 Couleurs in 09 Odyssey
Keeping
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette - this is still one of my OG favourite palettes. I could live forever with just a quad made up of Virgin, Sin, Buck and Dark Horse!
  • Lorac Pro Palette - I have a tumultuous relationship with this palette. It has amazing pigmentation and blendability but the shadows are very soft, powdery and fall out a ton. I still like to use it for special occasions when I will do the full eye makeup, clean up and face make up works
  • Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance Palette - this is still a new addition to my collection and even though some shades are a bit too bold for me, I have been loving the more understated shades
  • Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette - This is a straight up gorgeous palette that I could never ever part with and I still use it regularly
  • Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 03 Cocoa Mirage - the three most beautiful matte basic shades I own!
  • Nars And God Created The Woman Palette - this palette contains one of my all time favourite shades, Kalhari, and it the perfect small travel palette.
  • Nars NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette - I don't use this one a lot but it has some unique, bold colours that I do want to keep.
Selling or Giving Away
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - I never ever reach for this one because I usually prefer a warmer look.
  • Tarte Tartelette Palette - Since buying the In Bloom palette, I don't think I've ever used this one
  • Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Palette - grey shadows don't look as great on me as I had hoped
  • Lancôme Color Design Artist Palette - This actually has some pretty metallics but it isn't an all in one palette because it doesn't have any staple base and crease shades so I never reach for it.
  • Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes 5 Color Palette in Rose Ballerine - This is pretty but it is a bit too glitter bomb for me!
  • Clarins Ombre Minérale 4 Couleurs in 09 Odyssey - I really don't use it and it is time to move it along
I'm super proud that I was able to get rid of half of these palettes and really minimise the cluttered situation. I really don't feel regretful letting these go because I haven't used any of them more than once or twice in the last six months. I also know I will be able to sell them for a little bit of money and put that cash towards things I actually do want and will use. Will you be joining me in my declutter mission? Do you already have a couple of eyeshadow palettes you never use? Let me know in the comments below.

  2. I'm such an addict to eye shadow palettes. I've recently had to declutter my eye shadow palettes. I've really become obsessed with custom made eye shadow palettes and now it takes a special pre made palette to catch my attention.

    1. I have bought a few customised ones in the past and not used them much. Maybe I don't choose very well haha. It takes a lot for a new palette to attract me nowadays too. The only one I've bought recently is the Modern Renaissance because it was so different. Thanks for reading :)

  4. I've done a big declutter and literally have TWO eyeshadow palettes left (a lot were used up as well) so I'm in the market for a new one I think. It's so hard to choose one though haha.

    1. Nice! That definitely is a reduction. Which two do you have? Maybe I can help you out with some recommendations :)

  5. I love declutter posts! Always so fascinating to see what people rate enough to keep. Funnily enough I decluttered two of these as well! The Tarte Tartelette I found I didn't use and found it cooler toned than I expected (I prefer warm) and the Naked 2 for the same reason. Apparently I'm just a warm girl. Thanks for the post!

    1. Yeah I loved reading Maddie's Beauty Spot when she did a massive declutter so I decided to do one myself. It seems like we are both warm neutral addicts haha

  6. My eyeshadow palettes are the one thing I really do need to declutter but can't seem to part with. I barely wear eyeshadow these days, so I really should get rid of them....

    1. Yeah I'm in the same boat. For the longest time I couldn't part with anything but I was wearing shadow beyond maybe a crease colour maybe twice a week. It meant that most of my palettes weren't getting used for months on end. Be brave, you can do it! :p

  7. Wow, my hat goes off to you girl! I am such a palette hoarder, I don't know if I could bring myself to do this but you have definitely saved some of my fave palettes, especially the ABH Modern Renaissance palette :)

    1. I definitely hear ya! For the longest time I couldn't part with any either but I wore eye shadow really rarely over the last few months so it was definitely time. My boyfriend was a peach and bought the ABH palette as a surprise gift. He is a good egg haha

  8. Well done, I know how hard that must have been! I'm glad you're keeping the ABH Modern Renaissance palette, hehe. My makeup collection is in dire need of an overhaul and declutter especially with all the new stuff I've been buying!

  9. Good work narrowing down your collection! I've been ruthless with decluttering lately too. It's nice to have a clear out every once in a while!

  10. It is hard to declutter items you've invested some $$$, so good on you for being able to part with the ones you don't use! xx

  13. Great choices on what you are keeping as soon as I seen the ABH palette there I thought, she had to keep that one! LOL!! Although palettes are my favourite thing to buy and I do have a few in my collection I still managed to use them which is so good.
