Declutter Series: Drugstore Eyeshadow Palettes

Wednesday, 5 July 2017
I try not to be a makeup snob and represent a good mix of drugstore and high end makeup on my blog but I truly have never been wowed by a drugstore eyeshadow palette. I have found a few that are decent for the money, but they never stack up against my high end favourites so I never reach for them. Since there are so many I don't reach for, it was well past time to declutter my drugstore eyeshadow palettes.

So all together I had 7 drugstore eyeshadow palettes:

  • Maybelline The Nudes Palette
  • Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette
  • L'Oreal La Palette Nude in 01 Rosé
  • L'Oreal Colour Riche Les Ombres Quad in E4 Marron Glacé
  • Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Eye Contouring Palette
  • Makeup Academy Professional Eyeshadow Palette in Undress Me Too
  • Makeup Revolution London Redemption Palette Iconic 3
Keeping

  • Makeup Academy Professional Eyeshadow Palette in Undress Me Too - I actually do like the metallic shades in this palette and I haven't done a review on it yet so stay tuned.
  • Makeup Revolution London Redemption Palette Iconic 3 - I honestly haven't really tested this palette out much since buying it on holidays and I want to review it before I decide whether to keep it or not.
Selling or Giving Away
  • Maybelline The Nudes Palette - some of the shades are good but a lot of them just aren't. I can make them work but it isn't really worth the extra effort when I have better ones I can reach for
  • Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette - the same story, really. Maybelline quads used to be so damn good but the formula has lost its way a little bit.
  • L'Oreal La Palette Nude in 01 Rosé - I straight up do not like this palette. Everytime I try to use it, the shades are chalky and powdery
  • L'Oreal Colour Riche Les Ombres Quad in E4 Marron Glacé - the quality of this one is actually pretty good and of all the drugstore brands, L'Oreal Colour Riche shadows perform pretty well. I'm getting rid of this palette most because I never use it.
  • Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Eye Contouring Palette - Again, this one isn't bad, especially for the money, but I don't really use these grungy, rock chick shades
So there you have my commendable reduction of my drugstore eyeshadow palettes. To be honest, I am probably not going to buy any more because they never stack up to high end ones. I would rather save my money and buy quality. How do you feel about drugstore palettes? Have you managed to find a good one? Let me know in the comments below.

  3. I haven't really been overly impressed by any drugstore eyeshadows except Makeup Geek. Those eyeshadows are amazing!

  4. I agree, drugstores can serve, but their quality is not very enviable.
I had one from Italy drugged, which was fantastic, extremely high quality, only unknown and long ago it was.
    Greeting :)
