Declutter Series: Face Palettes

Sunday, 21 May 2017
I always get so enamored with face palettes, especially blush palettes, because they just look so damn pretty. When I am doing my makeup though, I usually reach for single blushes, bronzers or highlighters just because they are easier. As a result, I don't really get enough use out of my face palettes so it is definitely time to move some of them along.

I was actually surprised how many face palette I have since I never really remember to use them. In my collection I found 10 and vowed to get rid of at least half.
  • Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
  • Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonia Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette
  • Tarte Color Wheel Amazonian Clay Blush Palette
  • Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronz & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlight Palette
  • L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Contouring Palette
  • Maybelline Master Contour by Face Studio Face Contouring Kit
  • Maybelline NY Bricks Bronzer in 01 Blondes
  • Maybelline Master Camo Colour Correcting Concealer Kit
  • Rimmel Kate Sculpting Palette in 002 Coral Glow
Keeping
This was so hard for me but I decided to be ruthless because I really don't use so many of my face palettes. In the end, I kept these three because I have used them all in the last month
  • Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette - I always reach for this palette when I want a super glowy look. I only really use the Champagne Pop highlighter and Rosé Spritz blush but it is worth keeping for those.
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - I don't use this one all the time but I love it for special occasions when I want a little something special for my skin. I actually use every shade as well so it isn't going anywhere.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlight Palette - I love this one, especially the bronzer shade, and I use it quite regularly. When I want a glamorous sculpted face, I use this one without fail.
Selling or Giving Away
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette - I used to use this one a lot but it has been ages since I last used it. I only really like the Luminous Flush shade so it isn't worth keeping just for one shade, especially when I have a lot of warm pink blushes.
  • Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette - I have had this one for ages but I think I have used it all of 5 times which is crazy. There are a couple of shades I like but it is big, bulky and I just never reach for it.
  • Tarte Color Wheel Amazonian Clay Blush Palette - Ditto for this one. Of the ten shades, I would probably only use 2 and I have close shades in singles. Note to self... only buy single blushes from now on.
  • L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Contouring Palette - I just never cream contour because I find it more time consuming than powder. Plus, on the rare occasion I want to cream contour, I use the Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow because it is perfect for my pale skin.
  • Maybelline Master Contour by Face Studio Face Contouring Kit - The best part of this palette is the highlighter which is too warm for my skin anyway.
  • Maybelline NY Bricks Bronzer in 01 Blondes - This bronzer blends pretty well but again, it is a bit too warm for my skin tone.
  • Maybelline Master Camo Colour Correcting Concealer Kit - I tried this one and was pretty underwhelmed with it so there is no point in keeping it.
  • Rimmel Kate Sculpting Palette in 002 Coral Glow - For a drugstore palette this is actually pretty good but I'm always going to reach for my Charlotte Tilbury palette over it so there isn't much point in keeping it.
I am so proud of myself! Even my boyfriend was pretty damn shocked and impressed by how much I managed to let go of. I actually feel better for it because now these palettes won't just be going to waste. Plus I can recoup a bit of money on them, all while decluttering my overcrowded stash. I hope you are enjoying this series and are keeping up with all the previous ones. I've already decluttered my single shadows and highlighters. Keep your eyes peeled for the next installment and I would love to know if you are joining in and tidying up your collection along with me.

  1. 😱 Not the Hourglass blush palette! It's my most used palette haha. I would sell it if I was you because people are lining up out the door for it!

I sold my Tarte blush wheel as well for the same reason. The quality was great, but I felt really overwhelmed by the sheer amount of product in there.

    1. Yeah it is really beautiful but I never use it so I figured I would sell it since it will be so easy. I'm glad to know I'm not alone with the Tarte blush palette. Thanks for reading :)

  8. I'm loving your decluttering series! It's always interesting to see what you keep and don't keep. You definitely made good choices with what you kept this time! I am going to try and do this over the weekend when I buy a new set of drawers!

  9. Wow, massive props for being able to part with those beauties! Can I borrow you to de-stash my collection? LOL. I find it so hard to get rid of things (but I know I really need to!).
