April Favourites

Friday, 5 May 2017
April has been just as busy, despite my best efforts to relax. There are probably some big changes for me on the horizon so it is a bit of a weird but exciting time. I hope you have had an amazing month and that you enjoy reading about the products I have been loving lately.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in 1C0 Shell $54
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in 1C0 Shell review
For the longest time I couldn't use this cult favourite foundation and then they finally expanded their colour range. The new shade is so spot on for me and it is actually really exciting because I simply cannot find shades light enough and neutral enough for me in most ranges. The biggest surprise though was that this actually worked quite well on my dry skin. As long as I prep with a hydrating primer and apply with a Beauty Blender, the finish is amazing and it lasts all day! It's my new daily foundation at the moment because you can actually get a reasonably natural finish when applied sparingly with a sponge. Be warned though, applying a lot with a brush will look cakey and it doesn't layer well, not that you should need to because it is pretty full coverage. You can ready my full review here.

Too Faced Hangover Primer $46
 Too Faced Hangover Primer review
Since using a foundation that requires a little more prep, I have been loving this Too Faced primer. It packs a serious hydration punch and is one of the best ones I've ever used for creating a smooth, moisturised base. It really helps to makes sure that no dry, flaky patches disturb the finish of my foundation and also gives my skin a much needed hydration boost. With ingredients like coconut water and olive oil, it is lightweight and feel so refreshing on the skin. It won't extend the life of your makeup but if you have dry skin it will be a lifesaver, especially if you are trying to use a more full coverage, long lasting foundation formula.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge $16.99
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge beauty sponge blender dupe review
I've been devoted to the Beauty Blender ($30) for a really long time but coming back to these Real Techniques sponges has made me realise how close they are. They are obviously a slightly different shape (the Real Techniques on is larger and more squishy with a flat surface) but the actual feel of the sponge is similar. So many beauty sponges feel slippy and latex-y and I absolutely hate that but this one has the same porous surface that makes the Beauty Blender so good. I still like my Beauty Blender a little more, probably because of the old familiarity, but there really is no difference in the final result.

Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush $17
Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush review
Now I present to you the world's most perfect eyeshadow brush. It is that perfect small, blending brush that you can really do a whole eye look with in a pinch. Every good brush range has a brush in this general shape: MAC 217 ($37), Sigma E25 ($23) and Real Techniques Bold Metals 203 ($23). Not only is it the cheapest one out of all these that I have tried, but it is also the softest and the fluffiest. It is the perfect small blending brush that makes crease work and blending out a breeze. If you need a new blending brush, this is definitely the one I would recommend.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis A L'Huile Polish in 664 Greige Amoureux $9.95
L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis A L'Huile Polish in 664 Greige Amoureux
I recently picked up this new formula of nail polish to try and I have to say, I'm impressed! They are really affordable at $10 and you can always get them on sale for as little as half price. This shade applies beautiful and is totally opaque in two coats. It is a really gorgeous greige natural that livens things up from the usual neutrals. For a drugstore polish, this is seriously worth the money! I will have a full review up of these polishes soon in a few shades so stay tuned.

There you have my favourites for the month. I would love to know what you have been loving this month too, so let me know in the comments below.

Disclaimer: The Real Techniques sponge was provided to me as a PR sample but I paid for all the other products myself. As always, my opinions are my own.
