Colourpop Lip Lipstick Ultra Satin Matte Lippie Stix Lip Pencil Liner
In addition to going nuts and buying 8 ColourPop eyeshadows (reviewed here), I also simply had to try out their lip products since everyone raves about them so much. Call me weird, but I'm usually not the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks. I think the matte ones are great for a long lasting lip but I often think they make me look a little too done if that makes sense. Still, I wanted to try out all the lip products because I just had to see what the hype is about.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Solow $6 USD

I went for this one because it looked like a gorgeous peachy pink that would be perfect for everyday or pairing with an intense smokey eye for something a little more glam. I will definitely say that it lives up to its name. This is seriously matte to the point where it exaggerates every little tiny crease in my lips. That said, it does apply smoothly, is totally opaque and lasts really well on the lips. The short little doe foot applicator is also excellent for a precise application. If you are really into super matte liquid lipsticks, you would love this, but if you already have dry lips or just don't love that really dry look, you may want to pick a different ColourPop lips formula like the Ultra Satin Lip.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Alyssa and London Fog $6 USD

I definitely like this formula better than the Ultra Matte Lip because it is still a long lasting liquid lipstick formula but it doesn't show every little crease in your lip and make them look super dry. You can even still matte down this formula by blotting with a tissue or dusting with translucent powder so it would still be suitable if you are looking for a matte finish. It is just way more comfortable to wear. I also like that it wears off a lot more evenly, instead of flaking like most matte liquid lipsticks, which makes touch ups easier. Alyssa is a mauve cool-toned pink and would be great for everyday. London Fog is the real stand out though as a gorgeously intense cool-toned red that applies so evenly and even makes my teeth look so much whiter. I definitely think I prefer getting more intense pah-pow shades in liquid lipsticks and leaving the everyday nudes and pinks to more moisturising traditional lipstick formulas.

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Cookie and Button $5 USD
Colourpop Lippie Stix lipstick Cookie Button
Like most lipstick ranges, these come in a range of finishes. Cookie is a matte finish true nude that does look a lot browner than the picture on the website. I still like it and think it is a great formula but I tend to go for nudes with pinker undertones. If you are looking for a matte finish lipstick but want something a little more comfortable and less totally dry than the Ultra Matte Lip liquid lipstick, the Lippie Stix are a great option. It is worth noting though that Cookie isn't totally matte and actually mimics the finish of the Ultra Satin Lip. Button, on the other hand, is a satin finish creamy peachy nude that is very opaque. The formula of these Lippie Stix is quite thick, especially with Button, but they do wear nicely on the lips and make for a lower maintenance and less drying everyday alternative to the liquid lipstick formulas while still being quite long wearing.

ColourPop Lippie Pencils in Aquarius and Ellaire $5 USD

One thing that I was a tiny bit annoyed with when I received my order was that the lip pencil shades ColourPop recommends to go with some of the shades are really not very close. The site recommends the Ellaire pencil to pair with the London Fog Ultra Satin liquid lipstick but the pencil is way darker and more plum toned. I usually like my liner to match my lipstick pretty spot on so I really wish I had researched the shades of the Lippie Pencils more thoroughly for myself, rather than trusting ColourPop's recommendations. That said though, Ellaire is a great pencil to create an ombre lip effect with London Fog. Fortunately though, the Aquarius pencil I got to pair with Alyssa is actually a pretty good match so I would just say double check the lippie pencil shades yourself to ensure you are getting the match you want. As for the formula, I absolutely love the Aquarius pencil and found it creamy and very easy to apply. The Ellaire pencil was quite patchy to apply but that seems to be pretty standard for a deep shade like this and it smoothed out with lipstick over the top. For the money, these lip pencils have got to be some of the best and they even beat out far more expensive formulas that I have tried.

So there you have my full review of my ColourPop lip product collection. I probably won't be buying any more of the Ultra Matte Lips just because they are so very dry but if you live for true matte, long lasting lips you will probably love them. I will definitely be buying more of the Ultra Satin Lips though because I think they are a much more comfortable and flattering formula on the lips. The Lippie Stix are great for the money too and I really want to get some more everyday shades in this formula. Finally, even though the darker Lippie Pencil was a bit patchy, it smoothed out with lipstick over the top and the Aquarius pencil looked gorgeous on its own so I definitely need some more nude shades.

I hope this little review helps you navigate the insane number of options available on the ColourPop website. Will you be placing an order after this? What recommendations do you have for my next haul. Let me know in the comments below.

  1. The shades of all your picks are gorgeous! I also picked up Solow in the Ultra Matte and I must say I am not impressed with the formula at all. I find them too drying on the lips and just in general looks gross! I am super happy with the Lippie Stix though, I definitely need to pick up some more, Cookie looks like such a pretty colour! x
