beauty skincare haircare nails travel essentials must have
I am lucky enough to be going on a holiday to Europe really soon and because I like to plan things in nauseating detail, I already have a full packing list and some things ready to go. Putting together a packing list really helped me to pin down the beauty things I need to take with me. Here are the things that made the list, beyond the usual toothbrush and shampoo.

Sunscreen

Despite being super pale and burning at the slightest hint of sunlight, even I am guilty of forgetting this one on previous holidays. Even though I am going to Europe for the winter, it is still so important to take SPF! I know that I will be wearing long sleeves and legs the entire time so I only really need one for my face. Of course, my favourite is the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF 50+ Superscreen ($40). If you are headed some place warmer and sunnier, a fantastic and convenient body sunscreen is the Mecca Cosmetica Sunbrella Invisible Superspray SPF 50+ ($42). I reviewed both of these in full here.

Perfume

It's always nice to have your favourite perfume on holiday but the risk of breaking a $100+ bottle of prefume and spilling it all through your bag is not so nice. Travel perfume atomisers are the perfect solution and I use them all the time to stash perfume in my handbag as well. I got this beautiful Frangonard one when I purchased this gorgeous pefume when I was last in Paris (I hope to get another bottle this time!) but there are some more accessible options available like these ones from Essence ($14.95) or Travalo ($24.95).

Relaxing Bath Products

Depending on where you are staying, there is a good chance you are going to have a bathtub and find yourself wishing you brought some bath bombs or aromatherapy oils with you. Trust me, I've been there so many times because I don't have a bath at home and always want to take advantage of hotel baths. While this Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Mind Bath and Shower Oil ($92) is absolutely lovely, it is very expensive so there are definitely more affordable options. I also love Lush bath bombs and even the Radox Bath Salts Muscle Soak ($7.29) which is super affordable. The Body Shop also has some great options including this Egyptian Milk & Honey Bath ($29.95).

Body Moisturiser

Whether you are going for a summer beach getaway or to Europe in winter like me, you absolutely will need a good body moisturiser. I really love these Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturisers ($9.99) because they are quick and easy to apply and also have a locking mechanism on the spray top which makes them convenient for travel. You can also easily carry this aerosol can on a plane, as long as it is in your checked bag.

Nail Polish Remover Pads

I still love to have painted nails, even on holidays, but carrying around normal nail polish remover is just asking for a leak. Also I'm also pretty sure it counts as a flammable liquid which means you may not be able to take it on a plane, or at the very least have to declare it. Nail polish remover pads are a great solution and are way more convenient to use on the go. Manicare have some great ones for $5.29

Dry Shampoo

Whether you are exploring new cities or relaxing on the beach, there is always too much you would be doing rather than wasting time washing your hair. Dry shampoo is a must for every single day of life, holidays or not! This one by Ouai Haircare $40 (available in store at Sephora) is my absolute favourite. It doesn't leave any white cast on my hair and smells absolutely incredible! It is totally worth paying the extra compared to drugstore brand dry shampoo but if you are on a budget, Bastiste is a good option too.

Face Masks

Considering I have exceptionally dry skin, these are an absolute must for my trip to Europe where I will be faced with below zero temperatures and snow in some places. Last time I was there my skin dried out and then had a huge allergic reaction to the more intense moisturiser I bought. I am taking a huge stash of these Skin Republic sheet masks with me to keep the moisture up to my skin because I know they work amazingly well to rehydrate my skin. If you are planning on doing a little bit of relaxing on your holidays, it is also a great idea to take some pamper masks with you.

So there you have my picks for beauty travel essentials beyond the usual toiletries. I will be taking all of these with me to Europe and I'm sure I will get tons of use out of them. If you have any suggestions of things I should take with me that I may not have thought about yet, please leave them in the comments below.
