ego skin tips better skin healthier beautiful clear glow
Recently Ego contacted me to take part in their recent Skin Tip campaign and share my top tip for the healthiest skin possible. I focus so much here on products, sorting out the duds from the standouts, but the products you use are only half the battle. To have amazing healthy skin, it is sometimes more about consistency and dedication to a routine than exactly what products you are using.

My number 1 skin tip, as shared on the Ego Skincare Hub, is...

Keep It Simple: This is definitely my number one tip!

Our skin relies on natural processes to keep it healthy and beautiful and a skincare routine should be focused on supporting those processes, not replacing them. Your skin knows what it is doing so let it do it's thing. Provide the balanced cleansing and moisturisation that it needs but beyond that, I find that skin is best left to its devices.

My skin has definitely been through it's ups and downs. I had horrible acne in high school which thankfully cleared up in my 20s but then I had to face a new hurdle. I had a massive allergic reaction to a moisturiser and ever since, my skin has been quite sensitive and perpetually dehydrated. It is a constant struggle but my simple skincare routine really helps me keep on top of my skin issues.
My poor face in the midst of the worst allergic skin reaction of my life and being whipped by -15 degree Berlin weather. No close up photos exist from this week :p Going back to basic skincare helped to heal it up so quickly!
I usually stick to very simple products and a simple but strict skincare routine. My stepmum taught me about the value of skincare early on in life and I am eternally thankful to her. I have cleansed, toned and moisturised my skin morning and night since I was 12 and, while the products I use have changed a million times over, it is that routine that has given me the healthy skin today that I am so grateful for. I also usually go for the simple skincare product formulations. I don't need a cleaner that claims to do a million things; I just need one that cleanses the dirt, oil and makeup off my face at the end of the day without leaving it stripped. Beyond that and a good SPF, skin is actually pretty good at taking care of itself.
I love this sunscreen! It is definitely the best for the price point.
If you don't have a skincare routine currently, it can be a little intimidating so start off simple. If you have a lot of bad habits to break, focus first on something as simple as making sure you remove all your makeup at the end of every single day. Once that is a part of your daily habits, you could maybe add in a toner or a weekly exfoliation and mask. One part that is really non-negotiable through is making sure you use an SPF every day. You can replenish your skin's moisture or clear your pores later with a little TLC, but you can't undo sun damage once it's happened.

The point is to start small and keep it simple. A bare basics skincare routine you actually stick to is going to do a lot more for your skin than a convoluted routine of 10 steps morning and night that you can't be bothered doing most days. If you start simple and keep it simple, your skincare routine won't be a chore or a bother. Trust me when I say that it becomes a habit to the point where you can't imagine going to bed without cleansing your face.
A unedited, makeup free, no pretty lighting photo to show that the proof is in the pudding. I am really happy with my skin right now!
I really hope this skincare tip helps you out in some small way, especially if you are struggling with keeping up with a regular skincare routine. It's easier than it seems and, if you keep it simple and put in a little bit of effort, it will be a habit you barely need to think about in no time at all. I would also love to know your top skincare tips so let me know in the comments below.
