L'Oreal Brow Artist Sculpt Plumper review
L'Oreal just released their updated brow volumising gel and considering I now have the old and new versions in my collection, I thought I'd do a bit of a comparison to see if there has been an improvement. I always loved the original Brow Artist Plumper Brow Gel so when I received the new, updated version at a recent PR event I was really excited to try it out.

So when I went to write this, I actually thought the Brow Artist Sculpt had replaced it but I am really happy to report that it is still in the L'Oreal Range though the packaging has been updated. Just look for the silver cylindrical tube. I have been a big fan of this one and I definitely agree with the reviews that say it is a great drugstore alternative to higher end volumising brow gels like Benefit Gimme Brow ($39).

L'Oreal Brow Artist Sculpt review
This updated version itsn't listed on the Priceline site yet but it is definitely in store. It has a felt tip to sculpt out your eyebrows and then typical large spoolie behind the tip to brush things through. It its definitely designed to create more bold brows. Unfortunately though, I didn't really like this updated wand. I have included a picture to compare the brushes with each other and other popular volumising brow gels.

The felt tip applies the product much too heavily and isn't precise enough for a nicely defined brow. The spoolie part behind the felt tip works okay but it is large and unwieldy. It is definitely a much trickier and messier wand to use than the original Plumper wand. The formula appears to be more or less the same but the colour is a lot deeper in the updated version, at least when comparing the Dark Brunette shade. The original Plumper medium/dark shade definitely suits me a lot better

Honestly, when I applied the Brow Artist Sculpt gel with the felt tip, it was just way to intense for me and I found it wasn't flattering at all. Not only that, it was impossible to get the precise application you get from a brow brush from the felt tip end. That said, I was still able to apply it nicely with the spoolie part, but it was a bit awkward.

As you can see I was able to get a more precise application with the original Brow Artist Plumper and honestly, it was just way easier to use. I had to do a lot of clean up with the Sculpt version because the brush is too big in my opinion. They are very similar in formula and even colour once you get it on the brows but I still like the original better.

So, long story short, go for the original Brow Artist Plumper. For my brow needs and applications, the new Brow Artist Sculpt isn't an improvement on the original so I will stick with my old favourite. The Brow Artist Plumper is amazing for the price and gets the job done so well. I actually wished that L'Oreal had made a brow gel with a smaller brush if anything, rather than a larger one, because in my opinion it is so much easier with a teeny tiny brush. Let me know if you have tried either of these and which one is your favourite.
