Create Your Own Eyeshadow Palette Tag

Sunday, 14 August 2016
I saw this amazing makeup tag idea on Katinalindaa's blog and just had to create my own eyeshadow palette. I always find myself using the same two or so shades from each of my favourite eyeshadow palettes so I decided to choose the top 8 that, together, would make my perfect everyday palette. Honestly, if I depotted the shades I chose I would probably use this DIY palette everyday but a big part of me still loves looking at these pretty palettes.

The shades I chose were not only my favourites but also the best of the overall types that I use on a daily basis. For example, I chose my best highlight shade, best all over lid shimmer & matte, best warm & cool transition shade, best pah-pow! shimmer as well as the best outer corner shimmer & matte. Here are the gorgeous shades that made the short list (left to right)...

  • Urban Decay Naked Palette - Virgin: This is hands down the prettiest champagne shimmer highlighter shade in any of the palettes I own and it always last all day. I reach for it time and time again to highlight my inner corner and brow bone.
  • Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette - Funny Girl: I haven't had this as long but when I was swatching all the best all over lid shimmer shades, this one won hands down. It is the perfect shade of bright gold and packs so much shimmer and pigmentation while also lasting well throughout the day with minimal fallout.
  • Tom Ford Eye Colour Quad in Cocoa Mirage - Matte Cream: This matte cream shadow packs so much pigmentation and is so incredibly silky smooth. It applies and blends perfectly and makes for the perfect all over base shadow.
  • Tarte Tartelette Palette - Wanderer: This warm transition shade is so buttery and pigmented and also blends like a dream.
  • Tarte Tartlette In Bloom Palette - Jetsetter: this transition shadow is the perfect shade of cool brown for using in the socket or even the outer corner/crease for a more natural everyday look.
  • Tarte Tartlette In Bloom Palette - Firecracker: this intense bronze shimmer is the most insanely pigmented shimmery shadow I own. I really wish Tarte would release a whole palette of these buttery intense foil like shadows in various shades.
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Snakebite: this dark, burnished gold colour is absolutely stunning blended into the outer crease or all over the lid for a more intense look.
  • Lorac Pro Palette - Espresso: I routinely reach for a dark matte brown shadow to deepen the outer corner of my eye and this is the most intensely pigmented, blendable and buttery dark brown matte shadow in my entire collection.
Considering that 3 of my 8 shade choices came from the Tarte Tartlette In Bloom Palette, it is pretty safe to say that is definitely my favourite palette at the moment. I've only had it for just over a month and I have reached for it more than my other palettes combined.

If you would like, I also have full reviews of the Tom Ford Quad, Tarte Tartelette Palette, Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette and Lorac Pro Palette on my blog. I actually had a lot of fun doing this tag and it has kind of made me dream about one day creating my very own palette! I would love to see your own palette creations so I tag everyone reading this! Please either let me know in the comments below or tag me in your posts so I can see what makes your eyeshadow shortlist.
