Australis Metallix Metallic Eye Shadows Guns and Rose Petals Gold Gaga review swatch swatches
So I realised while I was raiding the Big W sale (still on until the 27th April 2016) that I had never tried these cult favourites so of course I had to buy them. Australis is a fantastic Aussie brand which unfortunately is only available here but to be fair, Aussies miss out on every other great brand because we can't get them here so fair is fair guys. These Metallix Eyeshadows are really unique, packing a seriously foiled shimmer punch at a insanely affordable price of $9.49.

I picked up the shades Guns and Rose Petals (muted champagne gold with slightly pink tones) and Gold Gaga (true warm gold). These shades are absolutely lovely and there are four other shades; Plum Diddy (dark plum), Jay Zed (khaki green), Lana Del Grey (lilac) and Pearl Jammin (champagne). I picked these up at the Big W sale for 25% off, but even at the full price, these are awesome value for money.

So the packaging of these is very simple yet effective. It is a simple screw top pan which I like because it keeps things sealed tight so it doesn't dry out. The formula is really really unique and it is definitely a soft cream/gel formula which is insanely pigmented. A quick swatch will give you a bold foil metallic finish. It is shimmer I guess but the shimmer pieces are really large so that they all blend together to look like a seamless layer of foil. It is hard to explain I guess but suffice to say that they are extremely unique and beautiful.
I will admit that the application of these can be a little tricky. I initially applied these with my finger which got a little messy because I kind of got it all over my inner lower lid. I found that using a flat synthetic eyeshadow brush allowed me to get it where I wanted it but it can be hard to pick up. You can't dip your brush because it just won't pick up on the brush but a light swirl over the surface is much more effective. The chunky glitter pigments can also get everywhere if you try to blend so I would definitely recommend blending your other shadows and just laying these over where you need them like pigments without blending.

I used Guns and Rose Petals here with my finger and blended with a brush. As you can see, it got a bit everywhere but still looks really pretty.

I used Gold Gaga here and as you can see, applying with a brush without blending gave me a much better finish with less fallout. Sorry about the shine, I added this to my makeup at the end of the day to take a photo and forgot to powder!
The longevity is pretty damn good actually. The intensity did fade after over time of course but I am really happy to report, that thanks the the cream formula, it didn't all fall out into a glittery mess. I am actually really happy with how these last.
So of course, these are not for the faint of heart and probably wouldn't make the most wearable everyday shade for most people but the gorgeous super metallic foiled finish makes these great for evening, clubbing makeup or basically any time you want a pah pow! shimmer. Long story short, these are gorgeous, unique and super affordable so you need them in your life. Do you already have some Australis Metallix shadows or will you be rushing out to buy some?
