March Favourites

Wednesday, 30 March 2016
Another month has gone by and I have another batch of favourites to share with you. A lot of these were more rediscoveries but there is also a great new find too. I always find myself trying a constant stream of new things so this month it was great to get back to some excellent products I maybe hadn't used in a while.

Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush $73
I have had this one for a while and it is still by far my favourite everyday pink blush. It always looks so absolutely flawless and I find it goes with pretty much every look. I have really been loving this paired with a bold red lip, more pronounced contouring and highlighting and tons of lashes. I know it it is expensive as hell and I'm pretty sure the price has gone up since I purchased mine (thanks crappy exchange rate!) but I never once regretted making the splurge. It is also a hard baked pan so I feel like it will last a really long time. The best part about the baked formula though is that it is impossible to overdo. You really need to swirl your brush in to pick up a little bit of product but that said, it is still quite pigmented. If I could only keep one blush in my whole collection for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Sally Hansen Salon Gel Polish in Shell We Dance $19.95
I recently reviewed the starter kit (here) which includes the shade "Wine Not" and because I loved the formula so much, of course I had to run out and start collecting more shades. I love a nude nail and of course, I wasn't disappointed with this one. It is a gorgeous soft shell pink nude that actually looks really nice with my pale skin. It lasted well over a week without a single sign of chipping though I will say that these shades generally tend to discolour and turn slightly yellow with wear. That said though, it took well over a week for that to start happening and it usually happens within 3-4 days with normal polish formulas of this colour. I am also in love with the super high gloss gel finish.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater $10
First of all, can we pause to appreciate how ridiculously affordable this is? I loved this as a refreshing mist but because I'm usually wearing makeup I didn't really use it all that often. After I had my facial this month though I really wanted to keep the gorgeous plumped up hydration so I thought it might make a good toner and my god I was right! I apply this generally spritzed on after cleansing and let it dry off before applying my serum, eye cream and moisturiser and my skin feels gorgeous. It smells absolutely divine (I LOVE the gardenia in it) while also being really refreshing and moisturising. I have always been a big fan of Mario Badescu products and this is one absolutely everyone should try out.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara $21.95
Okay, first of all never pay 20 bucks for this mascara! Woolies and Coles have half priced Maybelline all the time so definitely stock up then. That said though, it is more than worth the full price and it is seriously my favourite drugstore mascara. I was scrolling through my MOTDs on Instagram this month and I realised that I reach for this more than all the others I have on rotation, drugstore or high end. It is very black, gives great seperation, length and lots of volume. I will still always use my eyelash curler of course but the brush really helps to coat the lashes too. If you haven't tried it, you need to. I used it here with my other Maybelline Hypersharp Felt Tip Liner favourite!

Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Whiz $38
I bought the Brow Whiz and Dip Brow together quite a while ago and really gravitated to the Dip Brow. Recently though I have been loving the Brow Whiz though for more natural brows that are actually quite a bit faster to apply. Of course, I still love my Dip Brow but this is so convenient with the product and included spoolie.  I always use this one for travelling and I regularly keep it in my handbag for touch ups. If you want a good drugstore dupe the Maybelline Brow Satin is great but Brow Whiz still wins.

Rae Morris #2 Mini Kabuki Brush $30
This is easily one of my most beautiful high end brushes. It is ridiculously soft and feels so luxurious. I absolutely love it for carving in a precise contour but it also makes a great highlighter brush. I really need to get the full size one because I think it would be great for blush and bronzer. If we are being honest, I would give a non-vital organ for the whole Rae Morris set! I will definitely be picking some more up at the Brisbane Hair and Makeup Expo soon.

Have you tried any of my favourites? I would love to know what your favourites for the month are too so leave me a comment below.

Stay Rosy.

  1. Wow that Rae Morris brush looks lovely! I've been wanting to splurge on a Chanel blush for the longest time, I love how soft they are when swatched and I bet they look gorgeous on the skin. Unfortunately I want the shade Jersey which I believe was initially LE but has been made permanent, just not in Australia :( Love the Mario Badescu facial spray - a hand bag staple! x

    1. Aw thank you! I always feel like I struggle to get blush just where I want it so that is so nice to hear. You definitely need to check out the mascara though. Maybe chuck it in your groceries while you are at Coles considering it is 50% off this week :)
