Brushworx Rio Brushes

Sunday, 6 March 2016
I recently got these beautiful bright brushes to try out from i-Glamour, a really great professional hair supply online store based in Australia. I got the new Cushion Brush ($18.95) and 52mm Jumbo Ceramic Hot Tube Brush ($24.15) from the new Rio Collection. The collection also includes many other radial brush sizes (Extra Large 43mm, Large 35mm, 25mm Medium and 18mm Small) and a Paddle Brush ($20.95), all of which come in a choice of hot pink, purple and lime green. I was really impressed with the quality of these brushes so let's get onto the review.

All the different brushes and colours. Each brush, and individual size in the case of the ceramic tube brushes, also comes in all three colours.

The cushion brush shape is for detangling and smoothing hair and this one does a particularly good job. It is the perfect everyday brush for detangling prior to styling and I really love using it to brush out my day old curls to create gorgeous, smooth waves. The long nylon bristles are firm so they detangle the hair really well but are still flexible enough to be gentle and comfortable on the scalp. Even the handle on these is really comfortable. If you are a looking for a great salon quality everyday brush that won't break the bank, you should definitely check this one out.

For a while I had been using the GHD Ceramic Vented Radial Brush Size 4 ($29) and while it worked well, the handle wasn't very comfortable to hold for extended periods and the rubberised plastic coating on the handle has deteriorated and gone sticky far faster than I would have liked. Enter this gorgeous Brushworx replacement. First of all, the curved rubber foam is much more comfortable and the ceramic vented barrel ensured quick hair drying. Overall, the whole brush is very light as well which means you arms won't be dead when you finish styling. The bristles didn't hold onto my hair quite as well as the GHD brush because they are a tiny bit denser and shorter but this certainly wasn't a problem and I much prefer the more comfortable handle which means my hand doesn't cramp up. The huge barrel gave me lots of volume and the bristles and ceramic tube insured a smooth and shiny finish. All in all I really like this brush and it will probably be my go to from now on.

In conclusion, these are really fantastic brushes. They are salon quality while still being quite affordable. If you want to have a look at the full range with all the different shapes, sizes and full colours, head over to I-glamour. Will you be checking these out or have you already tried some items from Brushworx? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay Rosy.
