Rimmel The Only 1 Lipsticks

Saturday, 6 February 2016
Rimmel has always had some of the best inexpensive drugstore lipsticks so I was really excited about the launch of their new range of The Only 1 lipsticks ($15.95) which come in 12 bold shades. They are designed to be a hybrid of high impact long lasting colour and moisturisation all in a comfortable lightweight formula. Enriched with Rosa fruit oil and vitamin E they definitely did feel very moisturising on the lips throughout the day.

I was lucky enough to receive these six gorgeous shades to try out for you guys. I especially like the gorgeous array of different reds with undertones to suit absolutely everyone.

200 It's a Keeper is a beautiful mauve pink that is really wearable and perfect if you want to a subdued nude alternative.
300 Listen Up! on the other hand is a much punchier vibrant fuchsia with berry undertones.
500 Revolution Red is the true red of the bunch with neutral undertones that would suit most people.
610 Cheeky Coral is one of my favourites of the bunch and certainly quite unique. It certainly isn't an orange coral shade but looks more watermelon toned. This is certainly a very wearable red thanks to the slightly muted colour and again, would suit most people.
620 Call Me Crazy is the really warm orange based red of this collection. Unfortunately these kind of reds never look any good on my skin tone but if you are into warm reds, you should definitely check this one out.
Finally, 810 One-Of-A-Kind is a beautiful deep plum shade. I thought this one might be a bit much for me but thanks to the berry tones it looks really nice on my pale skin.
The formula of all these are really lovely and are almost gel like in their consistency. They remind me of the Revlon HD Lipsticks that were released a while ago and I assume the formulation is quite similar. The one thing I didn't like was the shape of the bullet which is very blunt and round and doesn't give you any tapered edges to get a precise line. I definitely had to use a lip brush with these but I don't mind that so much because I usually use a lip brush to apply bold colours like this anyway. All in all though, it is a beautiful range of colours and a really nice new formulation that feels really comfortable on the lips. I got about 3-4 hours of wear after which the fade quite evenly. Basically, they last well but they won't get you through a meal.

With these new releases also comes three new shades in the Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Pencil ($12.50) range. This is the warm orange toned shade, 104 Call Me Crazy, which perfectly co-ordinates with the Call Me Crazy lipstick. Again this orange red shade isn't for me but there is no denying how good the formula is. It lasts ages, isn't too drying and applies smoothly. I am still obsessed with my other Exaggerate liner in East End Snob. The two other shades are 102 Peachy-Beachy (peachy pink) and 05 Under My Spell (deep purple plum).

Comparison swatches (left to right): 200 It's A Keeper, 300 Listen Up!, 500 Revolution Red, 610 Cheeky Coral, 620 Call Me Crazy, 810 One-Of-A-Kind, Exaggerate Liner in 104 Call Me Crazy.
These Rimmel The Only 1 lipsticks and new Exaggerate Lip Liner shades are a great new addition to the line and live up to the cult favourite quality of the other Rimmel lip products. If we are being honest, I actually like the formulation of these lipsticks better than the Kate range. They are also really good value at $15.95, especially since they regularly go on sale.

Will you be picking up some of these gorgeous new Rimmel lipsticks? Which is your favourite shade out of the ones I reviewed? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay Rosy.

  3. I just picked one up in Peachy Beachy and I adore the color and texture, but wow do I hate the bullet shape. While I dont typically like flavored lip products, I like the watermelon-candy flavor these have.

    1. I saw that one in store. It looks great. I was having so much trouble picking the scent but you are right with the watermelon candy. I'm also really glad to know I'm not the only one that hates the bullet shape.

    1. Definitely! I usually don't like coral because they can be really orange but this one is lovely.
