February Favourites

Saturday, 27 February 2016
Another month has flown by and I have another collection of favourites to share with you. I am slightly terrified by how quickly this month has disappeared because I am back to Uni as of March and I have really been enjoying my holidays. Oh, well! As they say, time waits for no man (or woman!).

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Make-up Removing Micelle Solution $42.99
If you have been following me a while you are well aware of my deep and long term love of this product but considering it is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary I thought it was worth giving it some more love this month. For a while over summer I was a bit short on funds so I couldn't afford to buy a new bottle. I tried to convince myself that the cheaper dupes were okay but they really aren't. The cheaper ones I have tried might get the job done but they always irritate my eyes. The Bioderma one removes my makeup way better and doesn't irritate my eyes at all. It is really my favourite ever skincare product ever and I will probably still be using this when it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow Foundation $29.95
I just reviewed this great new foundation (here) and I have been using it so much this month. It gives a beautiful light coverage foundation that is perfect for everyday coverage. What surprised me most is that this range actually goes very light so, for the first time I was able to find a colour match in L'Oreal foundations. If you are looking for a light to medium coverage dewy foundation for normal to dry skin, definitely look this one up.

Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow $25.70
I have had this one for quite a while but for some reason didn't really use it much. This month though I have been really into it thanks to its super blendable cream formula and perfect contour shade for my pale skin. I just use my Real Techniques Bold Metals Oval Shadow Brush ($38.99) to apply it to contour my cheekbones, nose and forehead. It blends out flawlessly with a foundation buffing brush of a beauty blender. If you are pale and can't find a contour that doesn't pull too warm this one is a great option.

Smith & Cult Nail Lacquers $28
I made my new found love affair pretty clear when I reviewed them this month. Of course, I initially fell in love with the gorgeous packaging but it was the amazing application, formula and longevity that cemented them as my new favourite thing of life! The shades are gorgeous and they all come with fun names and anecdotes. There are so many things about this brand and range of polishes that I appreciate. You should really check them out!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows $11.95
Ever since I reviewed the new leather eyeshadows, I have been getting so much use out of them and my all time favourite of the permanent collection, Bad to the Bronze. They last all day and are so quick and easy to apply. Bad to the Bronze is a beautiful shade all by itself. I also use the leather shade Creamy Beige as a base and Chocolate Suede to create shading in my outer corner. These really some of the best cream shadows on the market, drugstore or high end. If you haven't tried them, you need to.
Left to right: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, Creamy Beige, Chocolate Suede and Bad to the Bronze.
Artiste Highlighter Brush $20.95
I had this brush for a while but didn't really use it for highlighter because I found it too big. Then I was watching a Lisa Eldridge video and realised that it is a very similar size and shape to her all time favourite (and really expensive) Suqqu Cheek Brush ($145). I'm not saying it is an exact dupe because I have never used the Suqqu one but it gave me the idea and this brush proved excellent for blush. The tapered small shape means you can precisely but gradually build colour and never go overboard. The flexible bristles mean it also doesn't pick up too much product and it blends nicely. I do wish it was a tiny bit softer but it does an amazing job and is now my go to blush brush and I have been getting a lot more use out of my more pigmented and tricky to apply blushes.

So there you have my February favourites. Have you tried any of these or will you be after this review? I'd also love to know what you have been loving this month too so let me know in the comments below.

Stay Rosy.

  1. What a great collection of favourites! I have a bunch of the maybelline colour tattoos and they're my holy grail, I just love how they don't budge at all. I would really love to try the new L'oreal foundation, think it'd be perfect to have in the handbag if touch ups are needed throughout the day. This month i've been loving my new MAC lipstick in "viva glam 2" which is a nice cool toned nude. Hope February treated you well :). Holly x

    1. Next time I use it I might try to put a selfie in Insta or something. Is is very subtle which I like and I would say it would suit any light skin tone as long as you aren't really warm. Thanks for stopping by :)
