January Favourites

Sunday, 31 January 2016
I hope everyone has had great start to 2016. I myself got even more into natural dewy skin and cream formulas this month which let me rediscover some old favourites as well as some new ones. Here are my favourite products for January.

LancĂ´me La Vie Est Belle EDP RRP $139 (Current on sale for $69.99)
I went through a phase where I was really into my Miss Dior Cherie fragrance and while I still love it, I have been reaching for this richer scent more lately. It is a beautiful floral and fruity fragrance that is deeper and richer but still very feminine. With top notes of blackcurrant and pear, middle notes of iris, jasmine and orange blossom and bottom notes of patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla and praline it is a complex scent that is quite full and long lasting. I have had people ask "Oh my god, what perfume are you wearing" thanks to this fragrance so it is definitely a firm favourite.

Face of Australia Face Base Primer $11.95
I have always regarded this as one of the best drugstore primers you can buy. It is insanely cheap, very moisturising and does what it says. It is a silicone based formula but it doesn't have the pore filler velvety texture like Benefit Porefessional and those sort of primers. It feels more like a light moisturiser. It is the perfect formula to mix with any cream product to sheer it out or help with a blended application. I mix it with my foundation to create a light tinted moisturiser kind of coverage. I have also been using it a lot mixed with liquid and cream blushes because it makes them immediately blend into the skin to look completely natural. If you live in Australia and haven't tried this primer, you need to get it stat!

Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium $36
This little pot of goodness is the absolute perfect cream blush formula. It blends really well, especially when mixed with a tiny bit of primer and has good staying power. I don't love this as much on the lips but it really does give an exceptionally natural flush of colour to the cheeks. Cream blush formulas always tend to look more natural than powder blushes and they are great if you are trying to keep a dewy glow to your overall makeup look. I really recommend keeping an eye on the holiday packs because I bought this in a pack of 3 minis for about $30 which was a total bargain.
Left to right: Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium and Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow.
Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow $26.60
I bought mine from Myer but it isn't listed on their website so I'm not sure if they still stock it. I have had this one for quite a while and now that I'm leaning towards a very dewy finish I'm back to a cream contour. Because I am really pale, most cream contours are way too orange for me so this is a great option because of its very cool undertone. I usually just a apply it in a thick stripe in the hollow beneath my cheekbone and blend it out with either my fingers or a beauty blender. It is also exceptionally forgiving and you can really keep blending it too almost nothing if you put your mind to it. It also layers really well to build up a natural and perfectly blended contour.

The Beauty Exchange Stippling Makeup Brush $22.95
I just reviewed a whole bunch of TBX products (here) and I was really impressed with them. I have really been loving the stippling brush in particular for applying my everyday foundation. It provides a beautiful light and even coverage that lets my natural skin come through. I also love the magnetic end which makes it oh so easy to dry after I wash it.

So there you have my favourite products for the month. I would love to know which beauty products you have been obsessed with lately so let me know in the comments below.

Stay Rosy.

  3. The Stila Convertible Colours are definitely a go-to blush for me if I want a more natural looking flush to my look. My favourite colour from their range is Gerbera but Lillium also looks quite lovely! x

    1. Oooh I will have to check out Gerbera next time in Mecca. I have Hibiscus and Petunia in addition to Lillium but honestly they are all gorgeous.

  4. Great favourites! I love the FOA primer too, but I ran out and going to use up some of my others before deciding which new one to buy again :) I've never tried Stila blushes, I will have to give these a look!
