Covergirl Mascaras

Friday, 29 January 2016
I recently picked up a couple of Covergirl mascaras to put to the test and I've been using them for the past few weeks. I figured now was the time to give you the full run down because that holy grail drugstore mascara is just so hard to find!

Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black $18.95

I reviewed the waterproof version ages ago (read the review here) and while I liked the effect, I hate how hard waterproof mascara is to get off so I stopped using it. When I saw the regular formula on sale, I thought why not put it to the test. This has been one of my top everyday mascaras for a while now because it is volumising, jet black and doesn't smudge at all. I also really like this brush on this one which seperates really easily so I don't have to concentrate too hard in the morning when I'm doing my makeup. It layers fairly well too, I just wish it had some bristles on the end of the brush instead of the blunt tip so I could isolate and build individual lashes.

Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara by LashBlast in Very Black $17.95
I just picked up the Star Wars limited edition version on a promotional sale but it is exactly the same product that retails in the blue tube.
I picked this one up because one of my favourite vloggers, Tati aka Glam Life Guru, swears by it. Unfortunately though I found the brush a little hard to work with. The brush just holds way too much product when you first pull it out which can quickly turn things into a gloopy mess. It also doesn't grab onto my lashes as well as other more tradition mascara brushes. I was able to get this pretty impressive effect but it wasn't without effort. I had to wipe off all the excess on a tissue and really wiggle my brush in to try and coat all the lashes. While I like the effect I was able to achieve, it really just felt like too much hard work. Maybe I'm just lazy? I must say that I have never been a big fan of these comb kind of wands but if you like them maybe you will get along with this mascara better than I did.

So there you have my review of these two Covergirl mascaras. If I had to choose one to repurchase I would go with the LashBlast Volume. Even though it didn't pump up my lashes quite as much as the Super Sizer it is just way easier to apply and I can always build up another coat or two. If you were looking for reviews of other Covergirl mascaras, I also reviewed the Clump Crusher Mascara here.

Have you already tried some Covergirl mascaras? If so, I'd love to hear your opinions. Also, if you have any other drugstore mascara recommendations throw them at me because I'm always searching for my holy grail.

Stay Rosy.
