Top 5 Everyday Blushes

Wednesday, 11 November 2015
There is nothing quite like a gorgeous rosy glow to liven up dull and tired skin. I absolutely love blush and wear it almost every single day. Even if I'm not actually doing my makeup, I might just sweep some blush on to add some natural looking colour to my face. Because my skin is so pale it often looks drained so here are my top 5 blushes I use all the time to make sure no one thinks I'm ill!

Left to right: Hourglass Luminous Flush, Nars Amour, Nars Orgasm, Harlotte Peach Frenzy and Chanel Rose Initial.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush (left on palette) $50
While this palette was limited edition, you can still buy Luminous Flush as a single. It is honestly the only blush I use from this palette on a regular basis. It is just the perfect shade! It is pink without being bubblegum and still is bright enough to really make the cheeks pop. I really think this would suit so many different skin tones. I can't see myself ever running out of this one because even with regular use I have barely made a dent, but if I do I will repurchase it without a second thought. You need to swatch this one next time you are in Mecca because it is seriously gorgeous.

Nars Powder Blush in Amour $42
There was no way I could make a top 5 blushes without including Nars! This shade is actually quite different from everything I own and to be honest when I saw it in the pan I nearly passed right over it. Luckily though I tried it on and WOW! First of all, this blush is seriously pigmented. To the point where it might be easy to overdo when you first use it. I just use a less dense blush brush like the Real Technique one though to sweep a light dusting over my cheeks for everyday and it looks so beautiful. I also really like that this one it matte which makes it look even more natural. Amour is also one of my go to shades for a more intense night time blushes (perfect with a smokey eye and nude lip) thanks to the intense pigmentation.

Nars Powder Blush in Orgasm $42
This one of my first ever high end purchases I made years ago and I still use it all the time. There is a very good reason this is the best selling blush shade ever! Aside from the hilariously naughty name, Orgasm is also the perfect mix of warm pink and gold shimmer. I love it on my pale skin but I have also tried it on some medium/olive toned people I've done makeup for and it (annoyingly) looks even better. For everyday looks I often will skip a highlighter when I use this blush as well because it gives me a gorgeous glow all by itself thanks to the subtle gold shimmer. I also have to mention how long these Nars blushes seem to last! I have used this one heaps and I still haven't hit pan. Think of it as an investment because this baby will give you beautiful cheeks for years!

Harlotte Powder Blush in Peach Frenzy $24
As you can tell, I wear a lot of pink blush but when I am looking for something a bit different I always reach for this one! First of all, can we stop to appreciate the price? Harlotte is incredibly high quality and was designed by Australian makeup artist Michelle Crofts. Peach Frenzy is the most gorgeous, balanced peach tone which blessedly doesn't pull orange on my fair skin like a lot of peach blushers do. The matte formula is fantastic and blends right into your skin to look completely natural. If you are going to pick up this blush, do yourself a favour and also grab the Harlotte Naked Peach Lipstick which, when paired together, make the most stunning peach combo you could ever imagine and the lipstick formula is one of the best I have ever used. This blush also comes in gorgeous matte baby pink called Frisky Pink but I already had so many pinks in this post!

Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 72 Rose Initial $71
I had been lusting after this albeit very expensive blush for so long! It is a cult favourite formula and shade with makeup artists and bloggers everywhere and it is not hard to see why. It is a gorgeous bright warm-toned pink with shimmer that isn't at all overpowering. It really is the most perfect everyday beautifying blush for most light to medium skin tones. It is also very long lasting and blends like a dream. Additionally, it is a baked pan which means that it is hard to overdo your blush and it is also pretty sturdy in the pan. You could travel with it or even drop it (like I did!) and it is going to stand up much better then most. The only think I don't like is the very strong and unnecessary perfume smell. It is a nice smell but just a bit to disconcertingly strong for a blush and it might irritate sensitive skin so I really think they would have been better leaving the fragrance out.

So there you have a full run down on the blushes I use most days to give myself a healthy rosy glow. Sometimes I hear people say they don't really like blush and it simply does not compute in my head. Aside from brows and lashes I really think it can have the most beautifying effect for minimal effort. Do you love any of the blushes I have mentioned? Do you have some absolute holy grail blush shades of your own? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay Rosy.
