October Favourites

Monday, 2 November 2015
I have been so insanely busy during October with Uni that I have barely had time to sleep, let alone blog. I will be done with all my assessment really soon so I can't wait to get back to blogging more or less full time! In the meantime though, I just wanted to check in quickly to share my October favourites with you.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow $97
This is just one of those few super luxe products I own that makes me straight up happy when I used it. It is the most beautiful and flattering highlighter and bronzer duo that is also really versatile for an everyday sculpted to face to high drama cheekbones for night. It works amazingly on my pale skin and let's not forget to mention that packaging! There is a reason this one is so insanely popular and I have never regretted the pretty penny I paid for it because it is a splurge that is totally worth it. I also did a first impression post way back in July when I got this which you can read here.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Moonstone $66 (currently on sale for $50.82)
I have heard the amazing Lisa Eldrige (among many others) sing praises of this product for ages and I really don't know why it took me so long to buy it! When I spotted Becca for more than 20% off on Adore Beauty though I simply had to buy it. It is the most beautiful liquid highlighter with the finest and most subtle shimmer particles you could ever ask for. I absolutely love this mixed with a dewy finish foundation like Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua or just applied after foundation over my cheekbones. It gives the most stunning glow without a tacky glitter particle in sight!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone $60 (currently on sale for $46.20)
I saw the amazing celebrity makeup artist, Max May, use this in a demo he did at Westfield Carindale and after chatting to him afterwards where he let me swatch it I knew it was finally time to get some Becca in my life. Also, when I saw I could get the liquid and the pressed Shimmering Skin Perfectors delivered to my door for under $100 from Adore Beauty I just had to buy them. I had to guys! You understand. It has officially beaten all my other highlighters hands down. It is more subtle and natural looking the TheBalm Mary Lou-maniser while still being very glowy thanks to it's finer milled reflective particles. It also packs a little more glow than the Charlotte Tilbury one, though I do love them both for slightly different finishes. If you have been forever lusting after the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed powder, just buy it! Seriously, don't wait as long as I did. I will have a full review for both up really shortly as well.

Nails Inc. Nailpure Nail Polish in London Court $24.95
Okay, fair call that this is an expensive nail polish! When I saw 25% off all Nails Inc. polishes at David Jones recently though I just had to pick one up. I definitely understand the hype! This is basically the only pale pastel pink nail polish I have ever used that you could seriously get away with one coat with! It applies perfectly evenly with a semi-opaque finish in just one coat, which you can build to mostly opaque in two coats. I love Essie shades like Ballet Slippers and Mademoiselle but you need at least three coats just to get a nice colour without streaks. This formula is head and shoulders above the pale Essie shades for only $6 extra! I say it is totally worth it because I have been using this shade everyday!
This is just one coat but it is one of those pastel shades that doesn't photograph well. It is much prettier in person. Please excuse the state of my cuticles.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer $29.95
Can you tell I am all about luminous skin lately? I have really been loving this one to wear on an everyday basis. I did notice longer wear using it but more importantly, it gave my skin a gorgeous glow. You can wear it as a primer or I found that mixing it with your foundation or layer a little over your foundation on highlight points gave an even glowier effect. I do think it is a little exxy for a L'Oreal primer, especially since it is only 20mL, but you can always get it on sale like I did! I think I got it for 30-40% off at Woolies actually. If you have normal to dry skin and want a glowy base definitely check this one out. I have dry skin so unfortunately I really don't know how it will perform with oily skin.

Harlotte Lipstick in Naked Peach $30
This is one of those stunning every day lipsticks I keep coming back to over and over again. I love that it is a peach colour without being too orange for my pale skin. Also, the formula is the typical gorgeous Harlotte moisturising formula that I rave about so often. Since this is a less popular but amazing Aussie brand, I really do cry for all the ladies that are missing out on Harlotte. Their lipsticks are most certainly a standout and if you are in the mood to try something new, you will most definitely not be disappointed with them.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara $40
I have recently fall head over heels back in love with this mascara, not that I was ever really out of love, which makes it even more depressing that I'm so close to running out of this tube. This mascara really is the perfect everyday mascara for me because it gives just the amount of length, volume and curl I look for in a mascara. I do like a lot of drugstore mascaras but to be honest, they just don't stack up to this one. I am pretty sure it is my favourite ever mascara, which is really saying a lot. I will definitely be repurchasing this one when I run through all my other mascaras because even though it is more than I generally pay for a mascara, it is completely worth it. The brush really does what it says and hooks into every little lash to curl them up while coating them perfectly without clumping or depositing too much product.
Bare lashes.
Curled with two coats.

So there are my (albeit a little late) October favourites. A few of these are ones I have had for a while that I've been pulling out more than usual and others are new discoveries that have already proven themselves as long term favourites. Let me know in the comments below which products you were loving last month. I'd love to hear from you!

Stay Rosy.

  1. Uni assessment has been killer this month! Thankfully I'm all finished as of Friday! Gorgeous faves, I so badly want to get my hands on CT Bronze and Glow. One day I'll have to treat myself! I've also been loving the Loreal lumi primer, especially under matte foundations :)
