5 Luxury Products Worth The Splurge

Sunday, 22 November 2015
Sometimes you just have to treat yourself. I find that when I am having a crappy day, nothing cheers me up more than a trip to Mecca or Myer or putting on a layer of your favourite high end lipstick. There are just some products that make you feel incredible every time you put them on. If that is materialistic then so be it! Here are 5 of my top recommendations for the next time you need a bit of luxury retail therapy that are 100% worth the money.

Urban Decay Naked Palette $81
The original and still the best in my opinion. This palette was the first high end one I ever purchased and still remains one of my most used. I much prefer the warm nude tones of this palette over the Naked 2 and it really can carry you from a everyday look to an amped up smokey night look. I routinely use Sin all over my lid, Buck in my crease, Darkhorse in the outer corner and Virgin to highlight as my go-to everyday neutral eye. They are smooth, super blendable and long lasting and there is a very good reason that Urban Decay shadows are so popular.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow $97
I absolutely love a good high end cult highlighter so when it came time to choose one for this post it was so hard to choose between this one and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors. Both are equally stunning but this one won out because it also comes with the most beautiful bronzer I have ever used as well as the most gorgeous rose gold packaging. If you have been thinking about buying this one, just do it. It is very versatile and you can achieve the subtlest highlight and contour or layer it for a full glam effect. The powders are finely milled and exceptionally high quality and you will honestly just enjoy this product every time you put it on your face.

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre in 20 Clair $71
Once upon a time I thought all setting powders were created more or less equal. How wrong I was. This powder is so luxuriously fine and silky but what I like most is that it doesn't look like powder on the skin. I prefer a dewy, luminous finish for my makeup and this powder maintains that fresh look while still setting my base. It is hard to explain but it basically sets everything perfectly but keeps my skin looking fresh, light and youthful. It is also worth mentioning that the huge 30g tub works out to $2.37 per gram where my previous favourite drugstore Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder costs $2.22 per gram so it really is very good value.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush $50
I love these blushes and I reach for them more than probably any other brand. I also have the limited edition blush palette from a while ago which unfortunately isn't available any more. If you pick the right shade, you will want to use this blush every single day. My personal favourite is Luminous Flush which I don't own in a single but definitely go to Mecca and get them to try these on for you to find your perfect shade. This Ethereal Glow would be lovely for very pale cool toned skin and I know that Mood Exposure looks gorgeous on medium tones

Chanel Rouge Coco in 424 Edith $52
It was so hard choosing just one high end lipstick but I feel really confident with my choice. Not only is this the perfect everyday pink for me, it is hands down one of the nicest formulas I have tried. It is very hydrating, smooth, has a pleasant smell and taste, and most importantly it doesn't bunch or separate at all on my often very dry lips. Furthermore, for such a hydrating lipstick it has impressive staying power. I love this lipstick and I will definitely be buying more of them.

The best part about high end makeup is that you can try it on before you buy it and be guaranteed to find a shade or formula that is exactly what you are looking for. Don't be afraid to swatch and ask to try things on at counters to make sure that your luxury splurge not only makes you feel good in the moment, but remains a firm favourite for months or even years to come.

What are those few luxury items that make you feel amazing every time you wear them? I would love to know so let me know in the comments below.

Stay Rosy.
