August Favourites

Tuesday, 1 September 2015
Another month has flown by so fast and boy, has it been a hectic one! I have been crazy busy at uni, I started a new job and still somehow managed to find some new favourite products while I was at it. If you have been watching my Instagram lately, some of these might not be a huge surprise to you but it is always nice to gush about some amazing products and tell you exactly why I love them!

Eyelure No 101 Volume Starter Kit False Lashes $13.99
Confession time... I absolutely suck at applying false lashes. Seriously, I usually fail so hard I just give up so this month was the first time I have actually managed to apply and wear fake lashes. After having so much trouble in the past, I was really surprised by how easy these Eyelure ones were to put on. They have a really natural shape to them which does half the work for you because they sit nicely on the lash line. I absolutely love the mega volume and I used these to copy this 60s mod makeup look from my new favourite movie, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and they looked ah-mazing! These have definitely restored my faith in false lashes and I am looking forward to using them more.

Revitanail Keratin Strengthening Serum $19.99
I have always had trouble with weak, splitting and peeling nails so anything I can use to help that is going to be a huge win for me. I haven't had much luck with strengthening polish treatments but this serum is fantastic. It really soaks into the nails and cuticles to make them healthier and stronger. It makes an immediate difference, restoring moisture to my hands, but I noticed a dramatic improvement with continued use over a couple of weeks The tips of my nails are definitely staying in tact longer, instead of splitting and peeling to the point where I would have to cut them back every week or two.

Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in 424 Edith $52
This is my first ever Chanel lipstick and it certainly will not be my last! When I got a $20 rewards voucher for Myer, I couldn't resist picking this one up. It is the most gorgeous rosy pink shade which is absolutely everything I want and more in an everyday lip colour. I love that it is still a true pink with just enough warmth in it to ensure it isn't too bubblegum pink. The formula is fantastic as well, with a gorgeous cream moisturising texture that still lasts for a few hours on the lips. I know it's a lot of money for a lipstick but it is so worth the splurge and if you choose your colour right, you will never want to stop wearing it!

Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liquid Liner $16.95
You have already probably heard me branding this as my official Holy Grail liquid liner (full review here) but there was absolutely no way that I could leave this out of my favourites this month. As someone who sucks at winged liner and liquid liner in general, I was blown away by how easy this one was. I know tons of people say that about various liners and I have tried them all and still failed but not with this one. Just buy it, seriously!
Can we all just pause to appreciate the fact that I literally did this in less than one minute!
L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Base Primer $29.95
I just realised that I never actually reviewed this one for you when I bought it so here we go! I have been using it non stop this month and I really love it. I actually have dry skin so I'm not using it for shine as much as just creating a really smooth base and to absorb what little oil I accumulate during the day. The texture is so light and gorgeous and I know everyone compares primers to the Benefit Porefessional but it is of that same velvety silicone type. I love it most of all for how well it just smooths my skin's texture and makes my foundation buff in like a dream. I have been alternating between this and the Maybelline Baby Skin to try the two new releases out and I definitely prefer this one, although they are both great for the price and very comparable to the cult favourite Benefit primer.

Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Indescretion $42
This limited edition highlighter caused something of a frenzy and it is easy to see why. It is just so gosh-darn pretty! When it first came out I told myself I wasn't going to buy it but seeing everyone else with theirs on Instagram meant I caved on that pretty quickly. As far as I know, it has sold out at David Jones but they may still restock and if you really want it you could probably still find it online. I know it is still in stock on the Sephora US website if you are willing to go through the pain of shipping forwarding. It is the most beautiful copper/rose gold tone that looks beautiful, even on my pale skin. I really love using this with bronzier looks instead of reaching for my typical light champagne highlighters. I always hate featuring limited edition things on my blog because I know how much it sucks missing out on something, but it was just to pretty not to include in this month's favourites.

There you have my favourite beauty products for the month of August. There were tons of fantastic new releases that made it really easy to find some great new products at the moment and these are just a few of them. Which of these will you be picking up or do you already have some of these and love them just as much as me? Let me know below in the comments.

  1. I might be looking at the Laura Mercier face illuminator :) It looks damn beautiful... I told myself I shouldn't get it because I rarely use a highlighter but I guess it's nice for a collection hehe. Thank you for sharing your monthly faves, Rosy :)

  2. The Man from UNCLE, yeeeeees - so glad you reminded me to see it, I loved it so much. The fashion and beauty was just gorgeous. I've seen so many people talk about their love for that L'Oreal primer but I get the feeling it's not for me - I don't like silicone-y ones! And ugh, Indiscretion is SO gorgeous, I'm in love!

  5. I have been lusting over the Laura Mercier face illuminator, it's just so damn pretty. This is a solid favourites list, although I haven't tried any of these products it's given me a good idea on what I want my next few purchases to be (that maybelline liner!). Holly x
