New From Maybelline

Monday, 24 August 2015
New Maybelline releases always cause something of a frenzy especially when we Aussie girls have been listening to Americans rave about them for months, or even years in the case of Baby Skin! I was so keep to get my hands on some of the new offerings and try them out for you and I'm really happy to report that they live up to the hype.
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser $15.95
I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was that I could finally try this one out after seeing people rave about it for years as a good dupe for the cult favourite Benefit Porefessional. I love the Porefessional primer but I just cannot justify the price when there are so many good drugstore primers out there like my all time favourite Face of Australia Face Base Primer. That being said though, I do love that gel to velvet feel that quickly sets to a powder like finish and am happy to report that this gives all those great effects of the Benefit primer at a third of the price! It's not quite as velvety and takes just a few seconds longer to set but Maybelline Baby Skin is a very good dupe and I really can't see myself ever paying for the Porefessional again. Like with the Benefit Porefessional, I don't notice significantly longer wear with this primer but it really helps to smooth the small textural flaws like large pores to create a flawless base to easily buff your foundation into.

Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liquid Liner $16.95
This is hands down the best liquid liner I have ever tried and I do not say that lightly! I have always struggled with liquid liner to the point where I always seem to mess it up and don't even really try anymore. Usually if I wanted to wear eyeliner I would just gravitate towards gel formulas or creamy pencils for my waterline. Not anymore! I can easily and consistently get a crisp line with this one. I really think it is due to the fact that the tip is actually a fine but firm brush so it doesn't dry out and drag like many felt tip liners. As an added bonus, it sticks around all day without any smudging though of course, it isn't waterproof. Interestingly too, the brush actually varies in tip width from a 0.01mm to 2mm line depending one which angle you hold it which means you can get every variation of line thickness.

The pen packaging makes it super easy to hold and honestly you just have to try it! I truly am someone who absolutely sucks at liquid liner but I can consistently get good set of matching jet black wings in just a minute or two. I would say this is miles better than the cult favourite Maybelline Master Precise Felt Tip Liner and certainly better than any other Rimmel, L'Oreal and Bourjois ones I have tried too. I seriously don't think you could find a better liquid liner period, let alone at a drugstore price.

Maybelline Matte + Poreless Fit Me Foundation $18.95
Maybelline foundations generally run far too dark for me so I wasn't all that excited by this new release, assuming I wouldn't be able to get a match. Boy, was I happy to be wrong. The 110 Porcelain shades is a very pale, neutral toned ivory that is absolutely perfect for my skin! I would say it would have to be one of the lightest foundation shades available at Priceline so thank you Maybelline for starting to cater more to the paler ladies! This foundation gives a medium to full coverage and a light dusting with a good higher coverage powder like the Australis Fresh & Flawless Powder bumps it it to a gorgeous full coverage matte finish. It buffed in really easily, even despite my difficult dry skin, with the help of the Baby Skin primer and gave me a really lovely finish. I didn't notice any oxidisation which is great and it wore well all day. This is easily one of the better drugstore foundations I have tried and it is so refreshing to actually be able to find a colour match for less than $50! If you are after an economical matte finish foundation definitely give this one a go!
Wearing Baby Skin, HyperSharp Liner and Matte + Poreless Foundation.
I was so impressed with all of these and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone. Even more than that, I would say that you absolutely NEED to get your hands on the liquid liner stat! Which Maybelline products have you been loving lately? Have you found any other standouts in the new Maybelline releases? Let me know below in the comments, I'd love to hear from you.

    1. I hope you don't have to wait too long for it. Usually Australia is the last to get everything so I feel you pain!
