July Favourites

Saturday, 8 August 2015
It's better late than never right? I have been all kinds of crazy busy the last couple of weeks with Uni starting again and trying to find a new job but I finally got around to doing my monthly favourites so without further ado...

Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray $39.95
I reviewed this one quite a while ago now (here) but I have recently fallen back in love with it, especially after doing quite a few makeup applications for friends and using this to set things. It made all of our makeup last all night even in hot sweaty clubs. I was beyond impressed! I also really love using this to set foundation without any powder at all when I am going for a really fresh, dewy look. Among a huge range of other setting sprays that really don't seem to do anything, this one is a real standout!

RCMA 'KA' 5 Shade Foundation Palette $48
I bought a whole range of RCMA foundations for my kit a while ago and I picked up this smaller palette in my shade so I could experiment with it on my own skin. I absolutely love the slightly yellow undertone to these shades which really nicely contrast the overwhelming majority of pale foundations that are way too pink. Also, I am incredibly pale and my perfect match is the centre one so this palette would suit the palest of yellow toned skins, and also provide you with highlighter shades which is impossible to find in anything other than pro brands when you are as pale as I am. The finish is absolutely incredible on these too. As a professional makeup formula, it is quite thick with 50% pigment (most foundations are only about 25%) which can be applied as a full coverage or thinned out. The wax base means it becomes very creamy and bendable as soon as it is warmed up but you can also buy a thinner to turn it into a liquid foundation. Also, I have used this on many different skins from young to mature, dry to oily, and it performed very well on everyone. I agonised for ages over what foundations to buy for my kit but I definitely made the right choice!

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Pencil in Pillow Talk $35
I'm calling it... best nude lip pencil ever! Now as you probably already know, I am beyond in love with the Charlotte Tilbury haul I got for my birthday and while I have been enjoying all of the products, this is a standout for me. I have been searching for my perfect nude lipliner for ages but I have always found it very hard because even nude pinks pull brown on my very pale skin. Not this one! It is the absolutely perfect colour for that "my lips but better" and I love wearing it with any of my nude lipsticks just to make them a little fuller. The formula is easily the best lip liner I have ever used as well. It is smooth, creamy and easy to apply without even a hint of the catching and balling I often get with lip liners. If you have been thinking about splurging on some Charlotte Tilbury, just do it! You will absolutely love this liner.

L'Oreal False Lash Wings Intenza Mascara $25.95
L'Oreal has been so on point with their new releases lately and this one is a standout. I reviewed it here but I have fallen even more in love with it since then, basically using every day. It gives really great volume and length, is a nice deep black and lasts well without being a total b!tch to get off. What more can you want in a mascara? L'Oreal generally makes really good mascaras but this one is definitely a favourite.
Bare lashes.
Curled with two coats.
L'Oreal Collection Exclusive Reds by Blake Lipstick $21.95
There was quite a bit of hype around the release of these limited edition lipsticks and rightly so. They are just as fantastic as the nudes collection. The formula is a rich, highly pigmented, long lasting, velvet formula. This colour is a rich blue toned red that is so incredibly flattering. I got tons of compliments wearing this one and I'm not one to really rock a red lip. I am now! This collection may be sold out most places but Blake is still available online from Target and I have seen it around so if you really want to get it you can with a bit of hunting.

Benefit Benetint $55
I have had this in my collection for quite a while but for some reason I wasn't really using it much. I pulled it out a few weeks ago and I have been loving it for my minimal makeup days. Some foundation, mascara, dip brow and Benetint and I am good. It is a lovely rosy liquid that looks gorgeous on my lips and cheeks and plays really well with my pale skin and dark hair. There is a reason this is a cult favourite. I also really love this together with the Benefit High Beam and Hoola and have been wearing that combo so much lately.

So there are my, albeit slightly late, July favourites! I would love to know your favourite products right now or if you share my love of these.

Stay Rosy.

  1. Blake's red is such a stunning shade! And of course Pillow Talk is such a cult product nowadays. The colour does look like an amazing nude, but I love the peachy-pink tones!
