Winter Must Haves

Wednesday, 3 June 2015
With the sudden change in weather, if your skin is anything like mine, you have already started to resemble a powdery, shedding snake. Wow, what a visual! Even though I love cooler weather, I don't love how my skin dries out like crazy. To make things worse, I have often mentioned that I work and spend a lot of time in a museum with very strict low humidity preservation controls which just makes everything so much worse! I have unfortunately been forced to become somewhat of an expert in all things dry skin. Here are a few things I absolutely cannot live without at this time of the year. You seriously need to check these out!
Lush Dream Cream 240g $29.95
So for your basic everyday body lotion this might seem a little exxy but I assure you it is 100% worth it! Not only does this stuff smell amazing, it is a really rich moisturiser that still feels really light on this skin and soaks in really fast. I absolutely hate greasy body lotions but this one is gorgeous! It contains a bunch of lovely ingredients like oat milk, cocoa butter, rose water and lavender which are all great for parched, aggravated skin. I have already sung praises of my favourite Lush product before but if you haven't tried it out yet, you really need to!

Uriage Stick Lèvres $11.99
Of course no winter essentials list would be complete without a good lip balm. I used to think all lip balms were pretty much created equal but boy, was I wrong! Since I first tried this one I have seriously used nothing else. It isn't at all waxy or gloopy and actually feels quite thin on the lips but it packs a lot of moisture in. It is also has pretty much no taste and odour and is hypoallergenic so it would suit even the most sensitive of lips. I would absolutely never be without this now and I have since tossed all my other half used lip balms. As a cheaper alternative, Carmex remains my favourite inexpensive and readily available lip balm but this Uriage stick is well worth spending the extra couple of dollars.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream $14.99
I have a ton of these floating around in my handbag, on my bedside table, in my car... you get the idea. I really hate the feeling of greasy hands after applying hand lotion so I have always used this amazing cuticle balm. It is really intensive so the smallest amount relieves dry, chapped hands but it doesn't leave my hands greasy at all. I often sit in lecture when I get sick of taking notes and massage this into my cuticles for ages. I probably make the whole lecture theatre smell like lemon, but at least I have pretty hands!

Nügg Face Masks $13.99 at Priceline (not available online)
I have a full review of these babies coming at you really soon but suffice to say they are awesome and I just had to include them in my winter essentials list. All of these masks seem to be really geared towards dry skin (no clay masks here!) which makes them absolutely perfect for me. I particularly love the pink hydrating and blue revitalising masks and will be working my way through more than a few of these cute little pods this winter! They are hands down the best and most moisturising masks I have ever tried.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil 100mL $39.99
I know this might seem a little expensive but let me just say, a little goes a long way and this gorgeous oil is just so luxe! First of all the smell is absolutely phenomenal! It is hard to explain but I think it smells kinda woody but I totally love it and that is coming from a girl with a perfume collection full of pretty florals! Aside from the amazing smell though, this oil is fantastic for moisturisation! You can use it on the face, body and even in the hair. A few drops will smooth frizz and revive really dry skin. I particularly love to use a few drops on my legs because they often look all powdery and gross thanks to my dry skin but this dry oil makes them look gorgeous and moisturised again, like I always had glowy, silky pins! Seriously, next time you are in Priceline search this one out in the French pharmacy skincare section and try the tester. Once you smell it and rub some in I challenge you not to splurge on it!

So there are the things I could absolutely not live without this winter. I would be absolutely lost without them so if you find yourself drying out over the next couple of weeks I would really suggest giving a few of them a try.

Stay Rosy.
