Review: The Parcel Winter Edition

Monday, 15 June 2015
As you have all probably heard me say before, The Parcel by Marie Claire is the only subscription box that I really think is worth it after being disappointed by others. I pay for this service every single time and I get excited when I see it in the mailbox. Here is what I got this season...
L'Oreal So Couture Volume Million Lashes Mascara
Full sized sample valued at $27.95
I actually already own this one and LOVE it! I really like the little brush that allows for a lot of control and it is a nice formula too. I will probably keep this one as a backup or maybe even add it to my next giveaway.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Romantically Involved
Full sized sample valued at $19.95
Interestingly, I kind of liked some of the colours in the 50 Shades of Grey collection but I never got around to buying any so I was really happy to receive this one. OPI polishes are always the best formulas and the deep red shade will be perfect heading into winter.

Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid
Full sized sample valued at $15.99
I have actually tried Lanolips in the past and really liked their products. Lanolin is always amazing, espeically on really badly chapped lips. I like the feel of it but I will say that the lemon smell and taste is quite strong.

Woolworths Select Quick & Easy Nail Polish 30 Removal Wipes
Full sized sample valued at $2
While these definitely seem cheap and convenient, they don't contain acetone which I have found is the only thing that actually works. Ever tried to remove glitter polish with non-acetone remover? Yeah, it doesn't work. In any case, I will give these a go when I'm not wearing glitter polish and report back. For $2 though, I guess they are worth a try.

Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme
5mL sample valued at $13.33 - Full sized 30mL $80
Okay, how can a anti-aging creme be "global". The crazy names and claims of anti-aging products amuses me sometimes. Anyway, even though this doesn't suit my skin it is a pretty generous sample. I will probably give it to my mum or grandmother.

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes 7 Pack
Full sized sample valued at $3.00
I'm pretty sure I have received these in a previous box but oh well. I do like them because they actually remove make-up pretty well but they do leave an oily residue which is the one drawback.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask
3 samples valued at $15 - Full sized 5-pack $25
I got the value information from the card Marie Claire sends out with the Parcel but these aren't actually available for purchase in Australia as far as I know. I tried one a while ago that I also got as a free sample and really liked it and I even messaged Neutrogena about availability but they said there were no plans to stock these in Australia. Maybe that is about to change? In any case I do like these a lot and will use them but I'll be pretty annoyed if they were included in the box but are unavailable to purchase, which kind of defeats the whole purpose.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo
50mL sample valued at $2.71 - Full sized 295mL $15.99
I have no idea why this is marketed as "beach blonde" when it has nothing to do with blonde hair and the promotional stuff says its "not just for blondes". In any case it looks like a good one to try and it has a fresh minty smell - like the actual herb, not like minty toothpaste.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner
50mL sample valued at $2.71 - Full sized 295mL $15.99
This one actually looks good because as someone who has always had long hair, trying to wash and detangle your hair after swimming at the beach or pool is a near impossible task. I will definitely be taking these little samples on my next holiday or beach trip.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea Salt Spray
30mL sample valued at $3.40 - Full sized 150mL $16.99
This is actually a pretty adorable little sample bottle and unlike some other sea salt sprays I've tried, it actually smells quite nice. I'm actually really looking forward to trying this one and I can see it coming in handy for travel or freshen ups.

Total Box Value: $106.04

So all in all, this was a very good box with a generous total value of over $100. I will probably use all of the samples I received (maybe with the exception of the anti-aging creme) which makes the $25 I paid for this subscription box money well spent.

Are you subscribed to The Parcel by Marie Claire? Have you been subscribed to any other good ones recently? Subscription boxes seem like a hot topic so I'd love to know so leave me a comment below.

Stay Rosy.
