Brisbane Hair & Beauty Expo - 3rd May 2015

Sunday, 10 May 2015
This time last week I attended the Brisbane Hair & Beauty Expo at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This expo is very much geared towards industry professionals including make-up artists, hairdressers, beauticians and nail technicians. It is only open to industry pros and those accompanied by one but I was lucky enough to get a media pass to tell you all about it.
The main expo hall features a large range of beauty industry supplier stalls and a constant program of presentations on the Centre Stage and Spotlight Stage. Highlights of these included presentations by Tracey Hughes and Rae Morris just to name a couple.
One of the presentations on the Centre Stage and yes, that is a blindfolded barber.
There was also a hair competition run throughout the two days with various categories such as cuts, styling and colouring. Similarly, there also a nail competition that I loved watching. So many people that are far more creative than I!
Some pros competing in the Hair Competition.
For the industry pros looking to really improve their skills, the expo also offered an extended education program with amazing presentations including...
  • Brow Shaping Look 'n' Learn by Jazz Pampling
  • Designer Nails: The Competitive Edge by Caroline Morgan
  • Timeless Makeup by Rae Morris (I would have loved to go to this one!)
Of course all of these sessions were a lot more exclusive and designed to provide valuable industry skills. They ranged in price from $119 to $199.

As a beauty blogger I was most interested in checking out all the makeup and brush brands that aren't widely available and are more targeted at pros. The highlight for me was getting the chance to check out the gorgeous and super luxe range of brushes by Rae Morris. She was even there at the stall offering advice with choosing brushes and telling people exactly how she uses each of them which was pretty exciting!
I only picked up two brushes (with a 10% expo discount!) on the day but I definitely have a mental list of other brushes from the line that I want to collect! They are all so beautiful. The magnet is also amazing for both displaying them nicely on the metal base plate but I particularly love how easy it is to dry these brushes after you wash them. I just stuck them upside down to my range hood which is the best way to dry your brushes to prevent water damage.

I also really loved checking out the Designer Makeup Tools stand because I have come across a few of their products and brushes before and they are amazing quality but still very affordable!
Just some of the amazing Designer Makeup Tools brushes.
In addition to their fantastic range of affordable brushes which were all at special discounted expo prices, they had a great range of artistry tools, disposables in addition to single pan eyeshadows and lipsticks for purchase. I picked up three of the lipstick pans to make a custom little palette which I will be reviewing for you soon along with everything else I picked up at the expo.

Some of the other stalls I loved looking through included those by MODELROCK Lashes, Crown Brush Australia and Tangle Teezer. There were also plenty of other stalls for every manner of other professional beauty products. For a full list of exhibitors, check out the expo website.

So there is a quick run down on my experience at the Brisbane Hair & Beauty Expo. I would highly recommend that you look into it next year if you are an industry pro or even if you know one that can take you along. I had tons of fun checking out products and tools that aren't readily available and got some great ones to take home which I will be posting a review for really soon.

Stay Rosy.
