Review: New Releases from Clinique

Wednesday, 18 February 2015
I was lucky enough to receive these lovely samples from Clinique. Please bear in mind that while I received these as PR samples, it was totally obligation free and I will always provide honest opinions as well as being upfront if I did not pay for products. Disclaimers out of the way, I actually do think these are lovely products that very much fit in with Clinique's brand identity of natural beauty.

Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in 04 "Plumped Up Peony" $42.00

I absolutely love cream blush formulas so it is little wonder that this is my favourite of the bunch. This colour is a very natural rosy plum shade that provides a natural flush and thanks to the cream forumula it blends effortlessly into the skin and looks like the colour is coming from within, while a lot of powder formulas can look like they are obviously sitting on top. I tried both my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and my fingers for application and found it blended in best just with my fingers but both were effective. It obviously isn't going to be for you if you like a very bold pop of blush but if you want a lovely flush of natural colour you will love these! I can see myself shelling out for more of these with my own money, especially the Robust Rubarb shade which also looks lovely. Also, as an added bonus you can most certainly use these as a lip colour too which makes them a great multi-tasker, especially if you are like me and like to co-ordinate your cheeks and lips.

Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturizing Colour Balm in 04 "Flowering Freesia" $35.00
I will definitely say that when I opened the box I was a little put off by the colour. The first thing I thought was, "It's... purple?" Now I am definitely not adventurous enough to pull of a purple lip but luckily it doesn't pull purple on the lips, but rather a glossy lilac-pink. I will definitely say though that these are very sheer. You don't get much colour pay off at all but that makes sense because they are sheer tints. They are also certainly very moisturising and have the same lovely texture as the original Chubby Stick Lip Colour Balm. I have the shade 07 "Super Strawberry" in the original lip colours and love it! Honestly, I think for the same price I would rather have the higher colour payoff of the original, but these Baby Tints make for a nice sheer alternative with all the moisturising and smooth feel of the original.
Swatch to show sheer colour.
Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara in 01 "Black" $38.00
As someone who usually goes for very thickening mascara formulas (think Benefit They're Real) this was something very different for me. Instead of really thickening and lengthening the lashes, the strength of this new Lash Power mascara offering from Clinique is that it separates your lashes like nobody's business! It basically separated every single lash and didn't even look like clumping on the second and even third coat and I was left with very natural, feathery lashes so it certainly lives up to its name. This isn't the mascara for you if you are partial to a really thick, false lash-esque set of batting lashes but it is a lovely separating formula that gives your eyes the perfect definition while still looking very natural which seems to very much be the Clinique way. It also makes for a very effective first coat of mascara to separate the lashes so I can follow it up with a more volumising formula.
Bare lashes.
Curled lashes with two coats of mascara.
Un-retouched  photo of natural look using only my normal base products (foundation and concealer) with the three new Clinique products. I have used the Cheek Colour Balm on my lips to provide more colour beneath the Baby Tint.
While these products aren't perhaps what I would usually purchase I was exceedingly happy to try them and found some I really like, especially for an everyday natural makeup look. I have only ever tried one other product from Clinique as well but I find that I am really liking the brand and the natural beauty philosophy it stands for so I can't wait to try more. Will you be trying out any of these new offerings from Clinique or do you already have some favourites from the brand? Let me know below in the comments, I'd love to hear from you.

Stay Rosy.
