Review: First Marie Claire "The Parcel" Box

Wednesday, 15 October 2014
This is only the second subscription box service I have ever signed up to and I love it much more than my first. Sometimes the Bellaboxes have some pretty good things in them but my main gripe is they rarely have good stuff from the major brands. A lot of it is random stuff I've never heard of and is almost impossible to buy if I actually like the sample. Because The Parcel is run by Marie Claire, who obviously has close relationships with all the major brands, it is very different. The first box was filled with some of my favourite brands like Benefit, Lancome, OPI, L'Oreal and Revlon and I couldn't be happier!
Here is what my box contained as well as a nerdy but useful breakdown of the actual value of the included products.

L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray - 75mL

Full sized sample valued at $4.99
I see this around everywhere and I have always wanted to try it so I was really happy it was included in this box.
Will I use it? You bet!

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in 055 "Stockholm Chic" - 8mL

Full sized sample valued at $25.95
There has been tons of hype surrounding these and I really wanted to try one.
Will I use it? Yes, I was about to go out and buy one to try when I saw it would be included in the box.

O.P.I Nail Lacquer in "In True Stefani Fashion" - 15mL

Full sized sample valued at $19.95
I was really impressed that they included an OPI nail polish and it was actually a nice, universally appealing shade. I have received some fairly ugly nail polishes in my Bellaboxes and I was glad to not have to add another shade I'll never use to that pile.
Will I use it? Definitely. I already have a couple of similar ones but you can never go wrong with a nice glitter nail polish.

Benefit They're Real Mascara - 3.0g

8.5g valued at $38.00 - Actual value $13.41
I will never ever be without my full sized tube but I love having these minis for travelling or keeping in my handbag. Basically, if you give me Benefit in any form I am a happy girl.
Will I use it? Yes! It is my holy grail mascara.

Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner - 0.10g

1.4g valued at $35.00 - Actual value $2.50
I have wanted to try this one out ever since its hyped release but considering the mixed reviews and the fact that I suck at applying bold eyeliner I held off buying it. I am really excited to receive a sample of this one because it means I can give it a go before shelling out the money to buy it.
Will I use it? Sure will.

Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector - 7mL

50mL valued at $135 - Actual value $18.90
Skincare this highend still remains way too rich for my blood which means I will never actually purchase this even if I love it. I usually use my luxe samples like this when I give myself a full facial to up the pamper factor.
Will I use it? Yes, but it is way too expensive for me to ever consider repurchasing it. Plus it isn't really ideal for my young skin.

Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner - 40mL each

750mL valued at $15.69 - Actual value of two samples $1.67
I have used this shampoo and conditioner before and it is okay. I still love my Redken but these come in handy for travelling. I will probably take them with me when I go to Caloundra this weekend.
Will I use it? Yep.

Total Marie Claire "The Parcel" Spring Box: $87.37

Value of the products I will actually use; $87.37 (All of them, yay!)
Subscription service cost per quarter: $25.00

You can clearly see that this box was amazing value and I am so happy I ordered it. If you missed out you can always sign up for the next one here. Also, if you follow Marie Claire on Instagram they may release sneak peeks for the next box like they did with the first so you can see some of the things you will get before you sign up. I for one cannot wait until the next box comes out and I am looking forward to reviewing all of my new products for you. Which review would you like to see first?
