Review: Bourjois Cream Blushes

Friday, 5 September 2014

If you haven't already tried cream blushes you really should check them out, they are fantastic! There is something about the way the creamy texture blends seamlessly into a nice dewy or satiny base and creates a natural flush of colour. Some of the best drugstore brand ones I've come across are by Bourjois though unfortunately only one of the shades is available here in Australia. I purchased mine from Life & Looks for around $11.50 AUD each with very reasonable shipping so if you are interested in getting the others in Australia that is a good option.

Flash. Please ignore the little brush hairs I couldn't get out.
Bourjois Blush Exclusif RRP $20.00

First I will start with the only one that is readily available in Australia. This is described as a blush to powder, incredibly blendable texture which all sounds right on the money. Originally I was turned off by the gimmicky PH personally adjusting colour, which Bourjois describes as "Bespoke Colour - a blusher that self-adjusts into a unique, personalised pink when applied to the cheeks." Eventually though, I put my hangups over the marketing aside because it is just such a pretty bright rosy pink colour and beautiful smooth, creamy texture. Even though it is meant to adjust to a persons skin PH, I swatched this on my boyfriends arm (after much persuasion but his was the only other available skin) and it came out exactly the same colour as on me. At the end of the day, everyone has a very similar skin PH level so I doubt there would be much variation in the colour at all.

The texture and blendablity is exactly the same over all of the Bourjois cream blushes, so this is yet another beauty. It is a much more natural matte peach shade which is perfect if you want a really soft understated blush. I often use this for my no-makeup-makeup looks because the colour is perfect and the cream blush formula has a lot more natural finish than most powders.

Bourjois Cream Blush in 03 Rose Tender

This is the only one of the three that has a soft pearlescent finish. As the name suggests it is a lovely pink rose that is slightly deeper in colour when compared to the Blush Exclusif. As someone who lives for pink cheeks, this probably comes out on top for me but that is just because of personal preference. Also I just love the subtle shimmer that isn't too glittery.

All in all, Bourjois makes fantastic cream blushes (and powder ones actually but that is for another day). I usually apply these with my fingers or my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and I often have at least one rattling around in my bag for a quick cheek pick-me-up during the day.
