In other news... Spring is nearly here! (I couldn't resist the Parisian floral background). |
It’s the end of yet another month and I figured I would do a
short post on some of the products I reached for most this month. I think what
I am most excited about though is that winter is about to be over so my penchant
for various shades of pink and pastels transforms from girly to suddenly season
appropriate. I also find that a lot of the stuff I use on a daily basis are
cult favourites that a lot of people have heard of already. So, keeping that in
mind I have chosen a few products I haven’t seen reviewed a million times. That
being said, products like my Nars blush in Orgasm and Benefit High Beam will still
be every months MVPs. There is a damn good reason everyone has them. On with the show…
Benefit Erase Paste in 1 “Fair” - RRP $47.00
I am 6 weeks out from my draft submission for my honours
thesis so it is fair to say that sleep is a bit hard to come by at the moment. Add
to the sleep deprivation my tendency for dark circles even with 8 hours a night
and the situation is pretty dire. I bought this at the very start of the month
and I have used it every single day (that I leave the apartment of course) and
I absolutely love it! I was hesitant to buy it at first because I read a few
reviews of people who said it creased badly which I do not understand at all.
It doesn’t even come close to creasing on me but I suppose if you tried to use
too much it might crease. It is for this reason that I recommend you throw out
the little plastic spatula it comes with. I know it is more hygienic but you
will always scoop out way too much. I
just tap a tiny amount in thin layers over my eye bags with my fingers and it
neutralised the dark purple leaving which makes it much easier to conceal.
Also, if you are looking at buying it please remember that it is colour
corrector, not a concealer so it should not match your skin tone but just be
more salmon toned to neutralise the purple and darkness. For the longest time I
didn’t buy it because it looked much too dark and warm-toned for my skin tone
but I assure you that if the fair shade suits my very pale skin tone it will
suit the lightest of ladies out there. I basically cannot recommend it enough.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer – RRP $26.00
For a while I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion and I
honestly wasn’t overly impressed with it and even found it caused creasing more
sometimes. I don’t really understand the hype with that product and maybe it’s
because I was using it incorrectly but I get on with this one a lot better. While
not necessarily as exciting, this eye primer is a great staple that actually
does what it claims. If you are in the market for a new eye primer I suggest
you give this one a go. You only need the tiniest bit, in fact if you use too
much it will actually crease very badly. Also, I found when I first bought it
the product had separated quite badly but squeezing the tube occasionally and
giving it a good shake makes sure it comes out perfect and ready to use.
Lancome Lip Lover in Framboise Etoile – RRP $44.00
Okay, firstly can we stop to appreciate how cute the name of
this shade is? French for Strawberry Star, this was a clear winner for me when
I was picking a colour from this range but there are many others that I would
love to buy (and probably would were it not for the price). These are quite a
revolutionary formula in my opinion because they seem to be halfway between a
gloss and a balm stain. Some products in the past have claimed such things but
this is the first that I have tried that actually delivers completely while
being very comfortable and moisturising. It lasts really well and even once the
gloss is gone it leaves a lovely, even stain. Another couple of points to add
to the plus column is that these a really moisturising and not at all sticky.
Basically these are a perfect everyday super shiny lipgloss without any glitter
and they only drawback is the price but to be honest I still don’t regret
paying so much for this one, I’m just a little bummed I can’t afford more. I
think it is just a hang-up I have paying more than $30 for a lip gloss because
I am definitely a lipstick girl but ignore my neuroses. I have been wearing my
Lip Lover quite often during August and I only have to re-apply after lunch,
otherwise it lasts a whole workday which is pretty impressive for such a moisturising
gloss formula.
So there are three of my most reached for products of
August. Have you used any of these? If so, what do you think of them? Also, I
would love to know some of your favourites of the month. I’m always looking to
add more products to my never ending wish list.
Stay Rosy
